About this house rental

Mother Allie's House — The Childhood Home of Rosalynn Carter | Plains, Georgia

Step Into History. Sleep in Comfort.
Welcome to Mother Allie's House — a living piece of American history nestled in the heart of Plains, Georgia. Now thoughtfully renovated, the home has been carefully restored to reflect how it looked during Mother Allie's era — from its warm, welcoming front porch to the charm of its original character — while offering every modern comfort you need for a truly memorable stay.
Whether you're making a pilgrimage to the Carter family legacy or simply looking for a one-of-a-kind retreat in southwest Georgia, there is no place quite like this.

We stayed at Mother Allie’s House for two nights and really enjoyed our visit. The house is very clean, and the bathrooms and kitchen are updated and well cared for. The kitchen had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, and communication from the host was superb throughout. What makes this property truly special is the history. The hosts have clearly taken great care to create a meaningful experience for guests, decorating and furnishing the home with items connected to the Smith and the Carter families. We especially appreciated the information they provided about each room, including whose room it was, details about the furnishings, and fun facts like the BB in the wall in the front bedroom. One of the coolest moments was looking at a photo of Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter in the very room where we were standing. We also loved sitting in the rocking chairs on the front porch. It rained while we were in town, but it was so peaceful to sit on the porch and listen to the rain. The owners have created a truly unique experience, especially for anyone visiting Plains to learn more about the Carters and their family. Highly recommend.
