RIAD VERT de Nina

This riad was truly one of the highlights of our stay in Marrakech. ❤️ Unlike the grand, hotel-like riads, this place has something much more special: an authentic charm, a sense of intimacy, and a personal touch that makes you feel at home from the moment you arrive. Every detail feels intentional, thoughtfully chosen to create a space that is both luxurious and deeply comforting, without ever feeling overdone. The place is much more beautiful than the photos can ever capture!!! Nina, the owner, was absolutely wonderful. She was incredibly attentive and thoughtful, taking care of the little things we hadn't even thought to ask for and checking in on us regularly to make sure we were comfortable. As two girls visiting Morocco for the first time, feeling safe and at ease meant so much to us, and Nina went above and beyond to make sure we were always looked after. When we couldn't find an affordable taxi to the riad, she even arranged a pickup for us from the city centre. It is these little acts of kindness that make a place truly unforgettable.b Bader i assume the Riad’s caretaker was equally lovely — always polite, helpful, and welcoming. He shared so much useful guidance about Marrakech and made us feel well taken care of throughout our stay. Together, Nina and Bader created an experience that felt less like being guests at an accommodation and more like being genuinely cared for in someone's home. One of my favourite memories was having breakfast each morning, accompanied by the gentle chirping and singing of birds around the orange tree. The courtyard was unlike the ones you'd typically see in other riads with pools or fountains. Instead, a magnificent palm tree and a beautiful orange tree brought nature right into the heart of our home. There was something so peaceful and grounding about it, a little sanctuary away from the bustle of the medina. The riad was quiet, serene, private, and felt incredibly safe.

The better I got to know Marrakech, the more I realised how exquisitely decorated this riad is. We stayed in the first floor room, which has its own terrace/balcony with table, chairs, and two sofas. It felt like we were staying in a really special property. We were lucky enough to have the riad to ourselves for most of our stay which made it seem all the more like home from home. The property also has a beautiful roof terrace / garden with amazing views of the Big Atlas Mountains. The riad is just 10 minutes walk from main sites like Bahia Palace and Jemaa-al-Fnaa, and Google maps was up to date enough to take us through the back alleys to places like Ben Youssef Madersa and Photography Museum so that it only took 15-20 minutes. Although inside the riad is, of course, peaceful, it's actually in a fairly quiet part of the Medina. Touria and Bader were on hand if we had any questions, and Nina provided lots of useful information via WhatsApp to make sure we had everything we needed for our stay. We particularly appreciated the option of a meal at the riad on our first night as we arrived so late. Nina also arranged transport to and from the hotel, which was good as I wasn't sure how close any other taxi would know to go, whereas we were dropped off practically at the front door. This is a really important fact to know if you're staying in the Medina (old town section inside the walls). The breakfasts, prepared by Touria, were delicious, and always far more than we could manage! The air conditioning in the bedroom was a lifeline in a heatwave! The room had lots of storage space so it was good to be able to completely unpack the suitcase. There were also sockets either side of the bed.

There's not much to criticise really and any issues were more the fault of the 40°C heat than the riad itself. Riads are designed to stay cool on the ground floor, which this did. Our first floor room was cool on the bits that were inside (bedroom and bathroom) because of the air conditioning. It just meant the terrace/balcony part was a little too warm to use during the day because this is open sided. And forget using the roof terrace in a heatwave (which is almost all open to the elements)! But eating breakfast on the terrace was fine as it's cooler in the mornings. I liked the firmness of the bed, but my husband found it a little too hard for his liking.
