Charming Central Apart in Oslo

The apartment has clearly been renovated recently and is modern, new and clean. The owners are super helpful and kind and I appreciate that they were easy to get in touch with! They allowed me to check in a bit early (though I ended up arriving much later) and checking out later (which I truly appreciated!). I'd give a much higher score if it was based just on the owners and not the actual accommodation.

Unfortunately, that's where the positive points end. The apartment faces the main street outside and has no privacy - anyone outside looks directly into the living space/kitchen area and there are no blinds/curtains. Which is fine if you're European but not so much if you're not. And the other tenants regularly sit outside the door/right in front of this apartment smoking. The bedding doesn't match and is quite worn, which makes it seem like it was a case of whatever was extra at home, was put into the apartment. The wooden high chairs in the kitchen are too unstable to sit on so they became decoration/space to keep things on. There are also no power outlets (except the one for the kettle) on the counter but there are 12 on the floor around the kitchen. (Also, if you have a kettle listed on the amenities, you also expect some coffee in the cupboard but that's probably just me). I always book a place with a hairdryer but this one was possibly the worst I'd ever seen - it's nearly a fire hazard for the amount of lint and dust and whatever else was clogging the air filter! And then there was the noise from the neighbours. I think the neighbours either hate each other or have never lived on a ground floor apartment because wow, it was so loud even my noise cancelling earphones couldn't block the stomps, slams and stairway thumps! All day, all night. And the location is just ok - there is a metro stop about 5 minutes away and there are some nice bakeries nearby, but trying to find the entrance of the building took forever and the system of fetching the key from an impatient shop owner two blocks away is really inconvenient with heavy bags and icy rain!
