Comfortable Two-Bed Apartment in Hackney

A very nice and modern property with a great atmosphere and a fantastic view. It has everything you need and feels very homely. There are even some lovely books available to read a few pages during your stay.

Despite a good customer service, I was unable to access the heating because the storage room, where the washing machine is located, was completely packed with laundry bags, boxes, and dirty cushions. Although the flat is modern, it clearly needs refreshing and better maintenance. The walls and carpets in the bedrooms should be renewed, or at the very least thoroughly cleaned. The chairs on the balcony are covered in rust and cannot be used. The blinds need to be repaired or replaced, and the bedroom window requires curtains to provide some privacy, as does the entrance. Some kitchen appliances also need replacing. The bench needs fixing, and the sofa should be cleaned or replaced.

After 10 days travelling it was incredibly handy to have the washing machine and clothes airers though we needed to buy washing detergent. The property is close to Well St Shops with good cafes, fish and chips, and a Tesco. The property itself was spacious and bright.

While it was stylish on the surface, reality was not as it appeared. The springs are coming through on the sofa, the beds are flat, the throw blankets on the beds were dirty and the carpet in the bedrooms were sticky. While there is a kitchen, there was no toaster and only a few staples provided for cooking - olive oil and salt. And the toiletries provided included an almost finished bottle of body wash, a bottle of shampoo (and no conditioner) and barely any hand soap left in the dispenser. We left the breakfast spreads, washing detergent and kitchen towel for the next guests. The property has skylights which I'm sure are wonderful for winter months, but in summer make the apartment a hot box. So we had to keep the doors and windows open to keep it airy and cool. Fans were provided but they were two very small fans, one for each bedroom, and one of them was so loud it was like a washing machine on a spin cycle. It would also have been beneficial if it was disclosed that the property is on the top (3rd) floor with no lift. Had we known this, we wouldn't have chosen it as we had a large suitcase to carry up after a long day travelling and also getting our 5yo up and down multiple times a day.
