I had a great stay! Facilities are well-maintained. Friendly staff. The owner Mr. Lee is also accommodating. Will come back soon! 😉

For improvement 1. Owner should learn more english so he can communicate well and entertain his guests properly. 2. Check the agoda booking if there are requests from guests and try to take note of it esp if the booking is made ahead of time. 3. Upper bunk of the dorm bed is too high. It could cause accident. 4. Guests are asked to remove their slippers yet the floor is a bit sandy. 5. Staff should always remember to guests equally regardless of their nationality… esp if it’s your fellow filipino. For commendation: Lary- tries his best to entertain everyone Lady owner- very gentle and apologetic but she needs to be decisive too.

Come for the price, stay for the community. The running joke in Siargao is the curse that you will never leave, the curse here at Sunset Surf is that you will always extend! Here you don't just remember faces, you remember names, you remember funny details from night prior, and most of all you remember who stole your card while playing Kambio. When you arrive you'll be greeted by the wonderful owner Mr. Li, by Larry who keeps out tummies happy and brightens even the most hungover guests, and the nicest Filipino staff who make this place feel like home. If you are not a social person, this is not the place for you. But if you are interested in learning about new cultures, eager to make core memories, and can handle hard goodbyes, then do yourself a favor and just extend your stay today :)

From the moment I arrived at the hostel, the staff made me feel like part of the family. Every greeting came with a warm smile, and they were always ready to help. The location is superb: just minutes away from Cloud 9 surfing area. Within walking distance of the surf break, I had the freedom to catch early-morning waves, stroll along the shore at sunset, or grab a quick bite at nearby cafés without worrying about long commutes. Rooms and common areas offer a rare balance: clean, comfortable, and chill enough for relaxing — but social enough if you’re into meeting fellow travelers. The dorm had air conditioning, privacy curtains. Plus, there was a nice common lounge where guests could unwind after a day of surfing or exploring. What really set this place apart, though, was the vibe: relaxed island-life with a welcoming, friendly spirit. I had meaningful conversations with people from different countries and exchanged travel stories, it felt like more than just accommodation — it felt like a little community. If you’re heading to Siargao and want a place that offers warm hospitality, ease for surfing trips at Cloud 9, and a social but chill atmosphere — this hostel is a gem.
