Monara - Seenimodara - Tangalle

Monara is an absolutely stunning property in a secluded part of Tangalle. The location is slightly away from the touristy parts of the south but this meant we had access to perfect deserted beaches. The views of the sea from our balcony and at breakfast were breathtaking. Every detail was perfect, from the beautiful interiors and pool, to the gorgeous comfy rooms and delicious food. The service led by Apul and his team was so professional and outstanding. They really went the extra mile to make sure our family of 9 had everything we needed. This was our best and most memorable stay during our two week trip and we wouldn’t hesitate to return.

The only downside is that you need to take a 15min tuk tuk to the busier towns like Hiriketiya for dinner options but this was worth it as a trade off for the stunning deserted beach a few minutes walk from our rooms!

Danke Sam, das du uns so wunderbar bekocht hast, danke Sampath das du immer dafür gesorgt hast das wir es sauber und gemütlich hatten, danke Upul für die Tips, Erläuterungen und Organisation unsere Ausflüge…und an alle anderen dafür, das wir uns wie zuhause gefühlt haben. Die Strände die wir in wenigen Minuten zu Fuß erreichen konnten waren einfach nur wunderschön, ruhig und sauber Wir hatten die Möglichkeit Yoga zu praktizieren und Ayurvedische Massagen zu genießen. Wir hätten uns nicht besser erholen können. Wir hatten sogar das Glück die wundervolle Besitzerin kennen zu lernen, die dieses Juwel erschaffen hat. Wir sind mit einem weinenden Auge abgereist und haben versprochen: wir kommen wieder ♥️

Monara er et fantastisk hotell med nydelige fasiliteter og ekstremt serviceinnstilte og hyggelige ansatte. Hotellet ligger litt utenfor sentrum, noe som gjør det til et stille og rolig reisemål. Likevel er det kort vei inn til mer sentrale strøk ved bruk av tuk tuk og taxi. Rommet, fasilitetene og rengjøringen var upåklagelig. Vi likte spesielt godt bassengområdet og at det var kort vei ned til en nydelig strand, og ikke minst "turndown service" hvor personalet hver kveld gjorde i stand rommet vårt for natten. Personalet var alltid på tilbudssiden og ga eksepsjonell service til en hver tid. Monara anbefales på det sterkeste for en luksuriøs og rolig ferie. Vi kommer gjerne tilbake.

Noe stive priser på maten, men ikke noe som trekker særlig ned på totalinntrykket.

Monara is a gorgeous property in a small bay away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas of the southern coast. It is located on a small hill with great views just beyond the beach, which is a five minute walk and hardly anyone on it. The rooms, the common areas, the outside patios, all designed beautifully with attention to detail. It’s like an outstanding Italian villa. The pool was the best we had in all our time in Sri Lanka – deep enough to not touch the bottom and get a good swim. Our bathroom had an amazing shower! Upul, Keshara, Sampath, Imesh, the kitchen staff, and the entire team, including the security guards provided extraordinary and kind service during our stay. Happy to help you with any need. It was fun and easy to walk along to the next beach around the rocks with several restaurant choices or walk to Jungle Seafood, which serves great Sri Lankan curries.

We have two bits of criticism and it is not for the property or the staff, but for the corporate office who manages the property. 1. They would be best to leave the communication to the guests with the staff at the hotel. The onsite staff is perfectly capable of taking care of guests’ needs versus someone sitting at a computer in another town who will not see us but liked to text us regularly. We found this very annoying. Their “office person” texted us two weeks before we arrived to send her our dinner choices. We understand they want to make fresh food but two weeks ahead we weren’t thinking about this place. 2.The menu. While we had fantastic breakfasts and the chef is quite talented, the menu for dinner did not appeal to us. They steer you towards the expensive (even for us in the US) three course western food dinners, and it was a bit of a hassle communicating with ‘the corporate office,’ to be allowed to pay for just one entree. It would’ve been great if they were more flexible and had à la carte choices with a mix of western and Sri Lankan food. The Corporate office, by checking in with us, took away the magic of the place that the local staff knows how to provide. It would be great to provide guests with folding beach chairs to take to the beach.
