Island Getaway Rooftop Camper fully equipped Tacoma

We had an Toyota Tacoma for 3 nights with the rooftop tent and it was quite an experience. 😅 The tent was easy to handle and also quite comfy for two persons. If you have a bad back I'd recommend the extra mattress 🤭 You get full camping gear with tables, chairs, stove, tableware etc. + A ground tent -> you'll need that for the state and county camp grounds - these camp grounds have to be booked in advance! Everything you need to know comes in a pretty detailed folder. Also good detailed notes come with the handover of the vehicle. All this made it easy to handle for us.

4 of 5 stars because there are quite some hidden costs we didn't expect (around 200$ extra for an insurance when you don't have an US policy; the pickup is also really thirsty 💸 and if you want to get a slightly warm shower you have to go on a private campground which is around $35 per person as well

I wish I knew that (outside of private campings) there are very few places you can actually use the rooftop tent. In two national parks of which one was closed abd the other told better not to go because you need to go offroad which is officially not allowed. And they warn you for damage to vehicle. Also insurance cost at least 300 usd additional for 1 week on top of the car costs.
