Domu Retreat

Toby and Sabina were extremely warm and welcoming. It was great to slow things down and relax at the retreat, have yoga and sauna sessions, some drinks over board games and just having good conversations with the hosts. Toby's food was amazing and diverse, and is reflective of his vast culinary experience accrued over the years. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. Their sheepdog Misha was a lovely companion during mealtimes.

Absolutely stunning inside and out

If life gives you the chance to stay at the Domu Retreat take it! I had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful place surrounded by nature for 3 nights, and I have had the most incredible hospitality experience in my life. As a person traveling alone I had an amazing experience at the Domu Retreat. There is enough space to recharge and always opportunity to connect with other guests or Toby and Sabina. On my first evening I was the only guest and Sabina joined me for dinner which was a great start to my stay and felt extremely considerate and welcoming. The following nights we where 5 guests and I had a great time getting to know everyone. Sabina took great care of me and my wellbeing, and I had the pleasure to participate in 2 of her morning yoga sessions which left me energetic for the rest of the day. She has an excellent eye for every detail, and makes you perfectly cared for. Toby spoiled me with his delicious food at dinner and breakfast. Everywhere I go from now on has to compete with his exceptional meals. Every evening presented a new overwhelming experience. Breakfast offered everything one can wish for especially when having an active in Abel Tasman National Park ahead. I also had the pleasure to book a massage with Bridgette. The whole spa area offers a relaxing experience in the middle of nature. And last but not least Micha - their lovely, sweet dog 🧡

We had an absolutely outstanding stay at Domu, hosted by the wonderful Toby and Sabina. The hotel’s location is truly exceptional, set on a hill with a breathtaking 360 degree panoramic view over both the mountains and the sea. Every moment there felt special, whether at sunrise or sunset. The food was simply phenomenal: incredibly high class and refined, yet never overwhelming or overly experimental. Each meal felt perfectly balanced, comforting, and memorable, far beyond our expectations. Toby and Sabina were exceptionally helpful with all of our plans and planning, always available, thoughtful, and genuinely invested in making our stay perfect. Their hospitality made us feel completely at home. The spa area was beautiful, with the saunas being a particular highlight, peaceful, well designed, and deeply relaxing. The yoga session with Sabina was a wonderful way to start the day and added even more calm and balance to the experience. Last but definitely not least, their dog Mischa was a personal highlight for us and brought so much warmth and joy to our stay. Domu is a truly special place, and we cannot recommend it highly enough
