Maïa Bacalar

La cabaña nos resulto muy cómoda, nosotros buscábamos un lugar para pasar unos días relajados en Bacalar. A 10 minutos caminando a la plaza principal, supermercado, panadería, farmacia, en nuestro caso alquilamos bicicletas y pudimos disfrutar el pueblo y ir hasta cenote azul. Nosotros llegamos en ADO, pudimos ir caminando al departamento por su cercanía a la estación y para marchar de Bacalar lo hicimos con el Tren Maya, super super recomendable! desde las 10 am hay servicio de traslado a la estación desde la plaza principal de Bacalar, frente a la entrada del castillo, un servicio del tren maya- ADO (averiguar en la estación ADO) y si tu tren es antes de las 10 am, haz de tomar un taxi.

Cosas externa al alojamiento, justo a la vuelta había un bar con un karaoke con el volumen muy fuerte en fin de semana y durante la semana. Y por las noches ese bus turístico con música fuerte y luces (un horror de atracción) pasaba por la esquina y despertaba a todo el vecindario.

Aparcamiento en la puerta y caseta amplia.

No tiene TV.

The apartment was spacious and felt unique. Huge yard and garden. Rustic but well equipped. The price can't be beat for the size and location. Lots of windows and strong ceiling fan.

Unfortunately our first night we had an incident where, trying to save on AC costs since there were so many windows, we opened the windows to sleep. That night there was a bad storm while we were sleeping so it was probably windier than normal AND most people in Quintana Roo don't sleep with the windows open, so one of the full size mirrors that was hanging on a literal 2 mm screw fell down. We didn't notice it until the morning when my partner stepped on the glass going to the restroom, narrowly avoiding cutting himself. There was no large broom and dustbin so We reported it first thing in the morning at 6am. The owners replied saying they'd come out around 10 am, and then immediately requested partial payment for the mirror before seeing the damage nor seeing a photo. I said I think this is a design problem hanging the mirror without any reinforcement and said I'd be happy to pay if I broke it but honestly it happened on its own. They became quite defensive basically saying "it was never a problem in the past year" and I felt a bad taste in my mouth after that, seeing as I am also a short term rental host and have made design mistakes that I took ownership of and don't jump to blaming the guest. This in addition to the multiple signage and warnings that any stains to towels any missing dishes any leaving electricity on will incur a charge - I think they'd give the guest a better experience charging more for the room and being a little less nickel and dime-y for any accidents. They were never rude and didn't push the issue beyond that but it definitely lowered my experience and made me a little bit less forgiving of the other flaws this place has which have been covered by other reviewers.
