As a work-overwhelmed New York City resident, changing the setting is needed. Instead of chain hotels, which can be nice but far from the feeling of home, I look for accommodations that feel like I'm staying with a friend, who also happens to have a pool, a gym, nearby activities, etc. I selected Pocono Ridge Inn because it fit my preferences, allowing me to feel at home, with a friend. Upon my arrival, hotel manager Eugene greeted me and another guest and gave a tour of the common spaces and explained the history, all in a friend-like manner, not a corporate representative. There's a pool, a huge porch including a picturesque tree swing overlooking a long pasture, a gym that offers multiple cardio machines in one part, and adjustable weight machines in another part so that you could do your fully body workout on site.
If you need a break from the noise of it all, stay here. It's home away from home.

My husband and I loved the inn. Eugene took care of us and made sure everything was good. The rooms are all renovated with new furniture and the common rooms for all to enjoy are lovely. The outside has pretty views and there are porches with rocking chairs. We would definitely stay here again.
