    A strong sewage/blocked drains odour filled the room immediately the toilet light/extractor fan was switched on. I immediately discussed the problem with hotel staff and requested an alternative room. They were fully booked. We arrived in the evening and there was no alternative accommodation available in the town. We spent a very unpleasant night in the room and cancelled the rest of the 3 night stay. Staff were very apologetic and assured me there would be a full 3 night refund processed after the Monday 28/9/26 public holiday and that the refund would be processed by Agoda.com. It is now 1/10/26 and I have had no contact from The Lodge or Agoda. The staff, while very apologetic and sympathetic, did not seem to be surprised when I raised the issue with them. They could not process the refund at the time but assured me the manager would contact me when they returned from the public holiday. This spoiled our time in the Denmark region. We returned to Perth the next day as there was no availability of suitable alternative accommodation. We were extremely disappointed by the experience. I await contact from Agoda having gone as far as I can with the automated customer service without resolution of my issue with the refund.
