Shilla retreat

Very nice experience! The hotel is close to everything and the atmosphere was relaxed.

My stay at Shilla’s Retreat was truly exceptional. The property was spotless, and my room was spacious and well-appointed. The location couldn’t have been more ideal, offering both convenience and tranquility. The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming, making me feel right at home. The bed was especially comfortable, ensuring a restful night’s sleep. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. Thank you, Shilla — I’ll definitely be returning!

The house is okay. Ms Queen, the lady helping us access the property was super calm, collected, helpful and kind. She is professional at what she does. She was a better host than the host herself.

The owner of the property and indicated host (Shillah) was not very pleasant to communicate with. She is quite bad with directions to her own property, condescending and pretty bad with communication and customer care. She was inconsiderate and just poor at customer service. She was also dishonest on the site as to what the nature of the booking would look like. On Booking.com, she indicates that when you book the house, you get the entire apartment. However, upon arrival at the property, she shifts the goal post that she is charging 44 dollars per room, which is really unreasonable! She indicates that there are two bathrooms, we only saw one. She also mentioned that we would get a hot water shower, but none of that was true. On the night of our arrival, the shower water was cold and even the next morning, it was still cold. The other unpleasant experience is the water supply itself. The flow was sooo minimal it takes you forever to fill up a cup and even longer to take a shower in cold water. She is in the UK but treated her staff like crap in front of us (on phone), basically diminishing the person who was meant to serve and help us during our stay. The shower did not even have a shower curtain so when you shower, water splatters everywhere and yet that is the same space where the toilet is. She seems to want her house to serve as a guest-house or dorm scenario. It would be perfect as a family-home but with her charging per room makes no economic sense and neither does it make sense logistically if everyone in such a cohorting scenario is supposed to use the single bathroom and toilet. The bed and mattress were small and noisy with all the plastic paper on the mattress. The windows were quite noisy during the night as they kept banging against the frames when the wind blows. If you are a light sleeper, this would make it difficult to shut an eye. The house smells like fresh paint, which makes it difficult to just settle in.
