Camp Lilac Mikumi

Lovely camp on the border to the Mikumi national park, where the tents/hunts are far apart, so you almost feel like you’re all alone in the forest - in the best of ways. The tents are very comfortable with nice furniture, mosquito nets, electricity and hot water. Our tent didn’t have a door/curtain to the toilet, so be ready to get intimate if you’re traveling with other people. Meals were served outside, so it was a beautiful experience being outdoors with a view of the mountains, stars and sunrise. It gets quite chilly at night, so bring extra layers to be comfortable. The staff was incredibly friendly and took very good care of us. We organized our tours and safari with Camp Lilac and everything was well-planned, high/quality and with very knowledgeable and friendly people. Tour guides were considerate of the nature and animals, which was important for us. And the camp staff were kind to teach us a bit of Swahili and tell us Maasai stories around the bonfire at night, which made the entire experience much more memorable. Would highly recommend this place if you’re looking for the perfect combination of nature, local interaction and an adventurous travel experience.

The location is spectacular. Quiet and peaceful surrounded by nature. The tents are 5 star. Beautifully decorated to the highest standard with a fabulous verandah to sit out on. The food is excellent and served outside under the African sky. The staff are exceptional they cannot do enough for you, everything is done with a smile and the welcome singing and dancing when you first arrive is wonderful. Overall an amazing lodge 20 minutes from the National Park main gate.

Having to leave after two nights.

I really enjoyed comfort, tidiness, luxury feeling and the view from our house. Dinner was really delicious and staff really welcoming. Could not ask for much more.

Everything was great. I would book there for longer time if that would be necessary. Certainly will come back.
