Il Geranio

Excellent location just below the Cathedral in the old town. Large roof terrace. The flat has been built into two very large rooms with high ceilings in an old town house. New-ish bathroom with washing machine etc.

Although potentially lovely, the flat just feels uncared for, with bits and pieces of broken skirting board etc, and a lot of flaking plaster and dust on kitchen surfaces which hadn't been cleaned up - they came from a very large damp patch on the ceiling which looked like it has been there a while, at least before the torrential rain as we arrived. Old Bialetti eventually found in a bottom drawer but no coffee machine or welcome coffee, and we were warned not to drink the water, though no welcome bottle either. Balcony off the kitchen full of cleaning equipment and rubbish. The sofas are covered with nylon covers (not as in the pictures), the tables with plastic cloths, and the double bed on the mezzanine was too soft and springy. The separate double room below now has a large picture of a girl lying on a bed on the wall... The plants outside were struggling to survive... We only spent one night there, but it was disappointing compared to our other stays in Sicily.
