Highlights: - Smooth check-in/out – Dat came to pick me up when I got lost (entrance is at Tower S2, not S1). - Prime location in Hong Gai district: close to restaurants, cafés, and shops, yet away from the tourist crowds of Bai Chay. - Stunning view straight out to the port and Halong Bay – unbeatable. - Clean, comfy, and well-equipped. Anything extra I asked for was delivered to my room personally. - Flexible housekeeping (I chose weekly) and reliable laundry service at fair prices. - Gym in the building, pool access, and a scenic shoreline road perfect for runs. - Fireworks and carnival season were a bonus, best enjoyed from the balcony. - Easy communication via WhatsApp, with quick responses. - Extra guest welcomed without surcharge, with blanket and towels provided. Dat is a great host who goes above and beyond. Between the location, the view, and his hospitality, this homestay is a gem in Ha Long. Highly recommended for long stays.

Things to keep in mind - however mostly outside of the host's control: - Mini fridge emits heat, which can make food spoil faster. - Toilet clogged once (quickly fixed) – remember not to flush paper in Vietnam. - Limescale can build up on bathroom and toilet walls with daily use. - Port activity can be noisy at times due to ships and parties.
