About this house rental
Welcome to Two Pines cottage nestled among the trees in Harbert, Michigan! This is the inaugural season for our renovated cottage, which has been fully gutted, so everything is clean, bright, and new. Our vaulted ceilings with exposed beam and skylights create a spacious and airy living area, and our décor blends modern style and comfort with mid-century vintage charm.
The space
LOCATION
We love our perfect location! We are at the end of a private road on a half-acre complete with a gurgling stream and a few fallen trees for climbing (our kids love to “hike” the backyard!). We are also right in the heart of Harbor Country and on the lake side of Red Arrow Highway, the road that runs along the east side of Lake Michigan. We are easily bikeable to Harbert Beach and a very short drive to Cherry Beach and the Dunes. We are close to New Buffalo and a 20 minute drive north to beautiful St. Joe. And if you enjoy your morning coffee and pastries on vacation, we are just a short stroll to Louisa’s Swedish Bakery. Check out our garage for a canoe (with car straps and several life preservers), a large “lily pad” floating matt, beach chairs and a collection of decent bikes of various sizes.
LIVING AREA
Our open living/kitchen area features a table for 6-8 plus island stools for 3 and a game table for 2 in the window-lined entry. Relax in the living room and enjoy a movie on our 55” flat screen TV or play some vinyl on our turntable. The bunk room even has its own flat screen and Apple TV so the kids can stream their own movies/shows.
Our kitchen features bright white cabinets, stainless steel KitchenAid appliances (including dishwasher, toaster and microwave), and quartz countertops, along with everything you need to prepare a comforting meal at home. We love cooking, so you won’t be wanting for any tools or basics.
There is a spacious mudroom off the backyard, perfect for dropping off all your gear and brushing off the sand after a day at the beach. And our cute basement laundry room features a brand new washer and dryer. Our backyard boasts a wood fire pit with chairs, an umbrella-topped dining table, and a gas grill.
BEDROOMS/BATHROOM
Two Pines has 3 bedrooms and 1 bath. One bedroom has a queen bed, one has a double bed, and one has 2 sets of bunk beds plus a trundle. Our bathroom features Kohler fixtures, a glass-doored shower, and Carrara marble tile. It’s the perfect place for 2 families with kids, 1 family plus grandparents, or even a girls’ getaway.
We hope you’ll visit! We love doling out advice on places to visit, things to do, and especially the best restaurants. Rates vary by season and include cleaning fees. June through August, 1 week minimum, $2450/week. Off season, 3 night minimum, $250/night.

We have a long gravel driveway for parking and you can also pull up right in front of the house.
