About this house rental
Cariño is a small, natural fishing port sheltered by the estuary. Three kilometers north of the town lies Cape Ortegal, an indescribable spot—a magical place and a landmark for all the locals. The expansive La Concha Beach, with its extraordinarily beautiful dunes and its fishing and timber port—among other features—forms the town’s waterfront. The most significant socioeconomic development was the arrival in the town, in the late 18th century, of Catalan industrialists involved in the canning industry. This event marked the beginning of the canning industry’s industrialization, which would reach its peak in the 19th and 20th centuries. Also in the 18th century, in response to pirate raids, watchtowers were built, such as those located in Limo and Herbeira, on the current border between the municipalities of Cariño and Cedeira.
