About this cottage rental
Lower Lochvane is a beautifully detached stone cottage, tucked away at the end of a quiet no-through country lane in the peaceful hamlet of Lochvane. Just a short walk from the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, dramatic rugged cliffs, and only two miles from the breathtaking Newgale Beach, this charming retreat is perfectly positioned for exploring the best of the Pembrokeshire coast.Recently renovated, the cottage retains all the character of a traditional Welsh home, featuring exposed stone walls, original beams, and sash windows. A stable door opens into a welcoming tiled hallway, leading to a fitted cottage-style kitchen complete with a farmhouse dining table — the perfect spot for relaxed family meals. The cosy sitting room invites you to unwind with a wood-burning stove for cooler evenings, and French doors open out to a gravel patio in the sheltered rear garden — a sunny, peaceful spot ideal for alfresco dining or enjoying a glass of wine. A sloping path or uneven steps lead to a raised lawn above, adorned with wildflowers, mature trees, and shrubs. From the hallway, a step leads up to a bathroom with a shower cubicle and a separate WC. Open tread stairs rise to two delightful bedrooms, featuring wrought iron beds and colourful linen that reflect the surrounding coastal landscape.Whether you’re seeking a restful escape or an active break, Lower Lochvane is an ideal base. Follow one of the many nearby footpaths to the sandy coves of Porth Mynawdy or Pointz Castle, both within walking distance, or venture along the Coastal Path for dramatic clifftop walks toward Newgale and Solva.Be sure to stop by Pointz Castle Ice Cream, just down the lane — a local favourite with a delicious range of flavours. The sweeping sands of Newgale Beach are just two miles away, popular with families and water sports enthusiasts alike. Don’t miss Pembrokeshire’s oldest woollen mill at nearby Middle Mill, beautifully set on the River Solfach. Watch the mill in action, browse their handmade wool products, and enjoy a cup of tea in peaceful surroundings.Further afield, the tiny City of St Davids awaits with its magnificent Cathedral and the atmospheric ruins of the medieval Bishop’s Palace. From St Justinian’s, embark on a boat trip to the nearby island of Ramsey, a bird sanctuary and home to seal pups in Autumn, listen for their eerie cries. Martin’s Haven is the embarkation point for boat trips to Skomer and Skokholm, a must of any holiday, particularly when the Puffins arrive to breed. Whitesands Bay, with its golden sands and rolling surf, is a magnet for surfers both experienced and beginners alike, while curious rock-poolers will be enthralled. For unforgettable views, hike up Carn Llidi — the panoramic sunsets from this rugged peak are simply spectacular.Whether you’re a couple seeking seclusion or a family craving adventure, Lower Lochvane offers an idyllic year-round retreat.
