Region: Devon, with its quiet country lanes, patchwork of lush green fields and sleepy villages is not to be missed. Stately home lovers will be spoiled and why not finish with a scrumptious Devonshire cream tea?
Town: Horrabridge is a charming riverside village located within beautiful Dartmoor National Park in Devon. The River Walkham, well known for its salmon fishing, flows vigorously under the village bridge, which is said to be the oldest in West Devon. An excellent base for a holiday in Devon, Horrabridge has a combination of olde-worlde charm and modern facilities, including a good pub near the river and a selection of small shops. There are many excellent walks starting from the village, taking you up onto Dartmoor and providing you with glorious views of the surrounding fields and hills where sheep and Dartmoor ponies gently graze. The market town of Tavistock, the main town of Dartmoor's western moor, is an exceptionally attractive town, owing much to fine Victorian architecture and its picturesque location on the banks of the River Tavy. There is no shortage of shops and cafes in Tavistock, plus the town is home to the purpose built Pannier Market - a must for every visitor.
