Travelodge Lytham St Annes

On arrival at 9pm I said I had a booking and that my daughter had dropped off my case earlier in the day. The receptionist said' I wasn't here theb". I showed her the booking on my phone, which confirmed I had paid. She said " have you got a booking number" I found 2 numbers on the email. They weren't the right ones. I legally booked through Agoda but this was not good enough as there was no email address on the booking. She would not check us in. I stood my ground and after waiting for 2 other couples who had arrived to be dealt with, there followed a very difficult situation. I told her that my husband had dementia but to no avail. A different staff member came and told us to leave. I said " so you are going to throw 2 vulnerable people our on the street. She said that there where plenty other hotels that we could go to to book in and threatened to call the police. I became distressed and as a result so did my husband. He tried the handles on 2 doors which were locked. The first staff member came back and accosted him angrily "you tried those doors". She finally relented, looked at the email and checked is in. I noticed the next day that in very small print in the Terms and Conditions, I was asked to bring photo ID. To the management of Teavelodge, I will say this. In order to prevent a repeat of the horrendous safeguarding failure that has been in the news, you have certainly taken your eye off the ball when it comes to other safeguarding issues such as ours. Think again and retain your staff to prevent a horrendous experience like ours occurring again.

Room clean and comfortable. Bathroom a little small but clean and functional. Would be good to have a non slip mat in the shower and a mat on the floor when out of the shower. Tea and coffee readily available and easy to get refills. Bed comfy.

Good value for money and good location. Good sized room and comfortable bed. Unfortunately the carpet was dirty with 7/8 blotches that looked like blood - room 222.
