The location is a short walk from town, but at the same time, dark enough to see the northern lights right from the window of the living room with a unique view of the town lights sparkling below. We saw northern lights every night right outside the apartment except the one time we went on a night reindeer tour.
The kitchen was well supplied & sufficient for our 4 night's stay, though the fry pans are not in very good condition and may do well with a refresh.
The host was responsive through WhatsApp, messages sent via booking.com were replied more slowly.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much due to successfully catching the northern lights! Note that the house is a 15min upslope walk from town in the snow and cold. For us, it was worth it for the quiet location.
The doors to the bedrooms cannot be closed as they don't fit well. It would be more comfortable if these could be fixed so the doors can be closed fully.
We had some issues with the washing machine but the host quickly sent someone to fix it the following day.
We entered the wrong side of the house at first because the same code is used on both sides, which caused some confusion.

Fantastic view over Tromso and over to the Artic Cathedral from the sitting room and balcony. We saw fantastic Northern Light action on our second night. Comfy seating area and well equipped kitchen. Heated floor in bathroom meant we could dry wet coats etc by hanging them up in there
Easy walk down into town even with thick snow and ice but we had grippers for our boots - which I would recommend.
Taxis would not come down the slope from the main road due to ice and steepness - if you rent a car Edvard recommends a 4x4 and you defo need that. If you have anyone with mobility issues you may want somewhere with easier access if you don’t have your own car
