Amazing property, pictures don’t do it justice! You can see the ocean

Beds could be better and maybe some rugs to absorbed sound

The villa was lovely, Portuguese modern and huge. It was only a 5 min walk to Porto de Mos beach, maybe less if you went out the secret gate at the front of the house. You can see the sea from the balcony. The pool was fab. We absolutely loved having our own pool space with 10 loungers and lounger towels were provided. They said it wasn’t heated, which I was worried about with my 4 young children but as it was Summer it was perfectly fine. We were in it all day! The shallow end is 0.6m deep (perfect for little ones) then about half way along the pool it starts to slope down to 1.8m at the deep end. There are a small set of tiled stairs in the corner down into the pool at the shallow end. All rooms have an en-suite and there is loads of storage. I always love electric Portuguese shutters on the windows to block out the light for our little ones sleeping - no need to take black out blinds. We had access to log into Netflix so the kids were entertained in their down time. The house is kitted out well too. Porto de Mos is a quieter suburb of Lagos, about 2kms out of the main part of Lagos so we just got a cab into town rather than hire a car (which would have cost us £550 for 7 days!). Using Uber made it cheap - sometimes it was only €3.5 into town for a 7 seater. Porto de Mos is quieter so if you want to walk into town easily, this wouldn’t be the right area for you. It feels like a newer suburb as huge new villas are being built - some as much as €3.5m Euro! So it’s a nice part of the Algarve. There are two lovely restaurants down on Porto de Mos beach, which are great for morning coffees, lunch or dinner - CampiMar and Antonio’s. Apart from a few maintenance things that are easily fixed it was a lovely villa with loads of space and a great location to the beach. I would 100% stay there again although I think we got a super amazing deal and noticed it’s twice the price for the same time next year but I think we got an introductory offer as it was new to booking.com.

There are a few maintenance issues that needed tending to but the property management company got on to those in a hurry. Also a few of the tiles in the pool have come away (mostly in the filter gap, not the main pool) which can be a bit sharp. These need repairing. I would recommend a coffee machine that takes capsules that are easily found in the supermarket as we couldn’t find any that fit. Like a lot of European houses it’s tiled floor to ceiling and it made the villa loud and echoey as there’s no sound absorber like carpet or rugs. Noisy if you have young kids who like to scream for fun! There are two bedrooms upstairs and two downstairs, which wasn’t ideal for our family as my kids are young (just personal preference but they decided to bunk in together upstairs) but if you have teenagers it would be ideal to have them in their own space downstairs so it would work well for some families or groups.
