Malahat Fairyland Cottage

The location, the setting and the house were all like something out of a fairytale. Surrounded by nature and very private , it was the perfect way to decompress and relax.

Honestly it was truly an amazing stay. The only thing I would mention is that it could use a little wipe down and dusting. I needed to wipe Fingerprints off the counters, cabinets and fridge , and clean the coffee maker .The lighting and higher up places are dusty and have some cobwebs which I understand it’s going to happen in a place like this. Those things would not deter me from staying again though. It is unique and lovely.

This is truly one of the best vacation rentals I have ever stayed at. Nestled in a quiet bay in Malahat, the property is both secluded and breathtakingly beautiful. Covering an expansive 53 acres, the house is built on the hillside overlooking the bay, complete with its own private dock. During our stay, we were lucky enough to see seals resting on the dock and wild deer wandering through the forested grounds. On the other side of the property, the beach is rich with shellfish, making the whole experience feel absolutely magical. The house itself is exquisitely decorated with unique touches, including many traditional Chinese elements that show the host’s thoughtfulness and attention to detail. Every corner reflects a sense of care and artistry. Overall, this was a dreamy stay, and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking both comfort and wonder in Malahat.

This is a very unique property that has a gorgeous, tranquil spot overlooking the water. We loved sitting outside in the morning with coffee and listening to the birds and watching the boats go by. It seemed like we were the only people around it was that secluded :) The cottage was super cute and it was a beautiful experience for us to spend the night and we certainly didn't want to leave the next morning. Just read your response to my review - wow- can't wait to come back sometime to kayak and enjoy the coffee - again a fabulous, one-of-a-kind place to stay :)

A better description of how to access the property - we arrived in the dark and initially couldn't find the driveway. Also, you need to park above the cottage and it is a fairly long and steep path to walk down to it - would be quite difficult for people with mobility issues or a lot of luggage (the path is paved which does make it easier for strollers or wheeled luggage). There weren't any basic provisions such as coffee or tea and it is a fairly long commute to get to a store, so would suggest you bring snacks & drinks so you don't have to walk the steep path repeatedly when you realize you need a coffee or beer or forgot something in the car! The cottage has quite dim lighting and the furniture is suited for a maximum of 2 people. The bed is upstairs with a sloped roof and if you were tall, you could hit your head if you sat up too close to the edge of the bed. A bit expensive for the reasons just stated but worth the price if they are remedied.
