Compleet nieuw vakantiehuis Villa de Berken

Fijne en ruime locatie. Mooi en modern ingericht.

Slaapkamers zijn mooi, bedden mogen net iets beter.

Villa de Berken is ideally located in the centre of the Netherlands, in the quiet of the countryside, yet within in easy reach of the extensive, high-quality, Dutch Snelweg (motorway) network and Hoge Veluwe national Park. The spacious villa has a well-furnished, open-plan, living room and dining-room with ample, comfortable seating and the kitchen is fully fitted with a large fridge, separate freezer and an extensive range of cupboards and utensils. The beds are comfortable and the rooms quiet, the whole being ideal for a large family.

Having sung its praises, there are a number of areas that let the property down. A microwave would be useful and the lighting in the living/dining room and all bedrooms is so poor, it impossible to read in the evening. It would have been good to have a working Wi-Fi on arrival, although this was fixed on the second day, by us, reseating all the cables. We had a big issue with bed bugs in all four upstairs bedrooms, everyone receiving multiple bites every night. Something to beware of when making a booking! The Villa can accommodate 12 people in 6 bedrooms. The property's advertisement on Booking.com states that guests will have access to the whole villa, but this is not true. If fewer than 12 people want to occupy all 6 bedrooms, say 7 people, the owner informs you that you can only use 4 of the bedrooms, unless, you make an additional payment for the other two bedrooms. These are the words of the owner: "The additional cost for exclusive use of the entire villa would normally be **€892.50**. However, if you pay **€375.00** directly to me, you will have exclusive use of the entire villa, including all bedrooms." Guests are not informed of this or the additional sum required, until after their final payment has been paid. That is not on! They are, therefore, caught in a trap; do they pay up or risk their holiday being cancelled at the last minute. I would, therefore, suggest that guests ensure agreement is reached with the owner on bedroom occupation before making their final payment. As it currently stands, the owner is clearly mis-selling this property and I wonder if Booking.com are in agreement with this.
