The Perch Shimla

We arrived late at night, and the host (via WhatsApp) and caretaker (physical) helped coordinate getting us and our luggage to the accommodation. There were 9 of us (guests), all with luggage. The facility was very nice and clean. The morning views were great from the balconies. The breakfast was very good. We had the choice of different breakfasts each morning, but just stuck with the aloo paranthas with yoghurt, pickles, omelettes, tea/coffee, and sehmia. All excellent. The caretakers were very helpful and friendly. We had a great time. Highly recommended. Just make sure you have the means to pay upon arrival. We had some difficulty at our end, but the host was very reasonable, and we sorted it all out the following evening. The walk to the main Mall street is about 10-15 mins, and then to the main church is about another 5mins. Slightly uphill all the way. Easily doable if you take your time and don't carry too much. Take bottled water with you when going out in the heat.

Given our arrival time (we were in constant communication with the host/caretaker) I felt they could have ensured the property was pre-warmed up for us. We had to ask for extra heaters in the common areas as they were cold during the evening. I'm sure this is not needed nearer the warmer months, but it was for our arrival in early April. We had some minor issues with the air-con (heating) and hot water for showers. These were promptly resolved once we informed the caretaker. We had a brief glitch with our room keys not working on the front-door lock, but again, this was resolved quickly. In fact, the caretaker was very helpful and friendly and resolved all of our concerns as fast as he could. It was nice to be staying somewhere where you can get prompt help when you need it.

It's a beautiful, well maintained and new property. The host Mr. Raunak helped stayed in touch to ensure we could reach the location easily. And then his staff helped ensure the smooth driving for us on snowy inner roads by managing other traffic. The property has nice living room with furnishings and there is personal lawn area outside where you can play in snow or enjoy bonfire. And the breakfast buffet was nice too. :-)
