Monticello

This mountaintop retreat was like paradise, so beautiful and tranquil. The nighttime views over the city of San Salvador and the lake of Ilopango were spectacular. The little house was super modern and immaculately clean, with nearly floor-to-ceiling windows all around and every amenity one could want, including fresh water and coffee in the room, a hot tub, a fire pit, two huge outdoor observation platforms with seating and a third with a hammock, and a lovely garden. Communication with the host was flawless. They even brought in and set up a second huge bed for us, so that we could stay in their best casita and still have two beds. Access was very convenient; we left our small rental car at the host's family estate and were chauffeured to the retreat by one of the owners in a 4x4, who was even kind enough to pick us up at 5:30am so that we could be on time to catch an early morning international flight. Payment by cash or Zelle on checkout was easy and quick. I can think of no better place for a first or last night in El Salvador, and I'm so thankful we were able to stay here.

Our stay was only for 1 night; I wish we had had more time to enjoy everything in this lovely place.
