Zzz Ijen Hostel

We used this hostel as a base to explore the area around Banyuwangi. We arrived a little early and were welcomed by a video message because the staff were in a meeting. It was really thoughtful, as it meant we didn’t have to wait. Later that day, we were warmly welcomed and had some wonderful conversations with Arwa and Arum. They recommended great places to eat, shared their experiences of living on Java, and helped us with everything we needed. A truly warm and welcoming place, made even better by the comfortable rooms and the kind people who work there. Thank you for the great stay!

Some roach issues and the rooms had a bit of a smell.

I like this place because it’s a cozy, comfortable and budget place to stay. The staff were very friendly, funny and spoke very good English. We had a good laugh. They were very informative and helpful towards our next destination also to get around the city. The bunk beds were very comfortable. They also gave me a bucket 🪣. In case… Just kidding. The bucket to do my laundry. They also have cool little garden and a balcony to chill out. The kitchen with free tea and coffee. Overall all I would definitely recommend this homestay. Ah, I choose this hotel because I see a cool monkey picture, and thought it might be cool place. And I wasn’t wrong about it.

They don’t have a gym. (Just kidding)

The room was very big! Good value for the money! Staff super kind!

There was not running hotwater dispite being available. I think the tap was not working. Sounds from living room and from outside were noticeable. Bring earplugs!
