The place was a great stay and really peaceful place in Howick. Great for escaping the noise in the city.

The owners are delightful and personally welcomed us when we arrived. We were very grateful for Rudi's advice on possible disruption the next day with protests. The room was lovely and we were able to buy wine at a very reasonable price.

It would have been great to have dinner, but we were provided with a picnic, which was perfect after a long trip from the UK.

The decorations are very pretty and the room and bathroom are spacious. It was very clean and the beds were made up daily. The big, well kept lawn outside is very lovely. We enjoyed the wonderful view. As there is nothing to do on the premise, we took a drive to Rawdens Hotel and Brewery twice for lunch. It's a beautiful drive. The accommodation is also fairly close to Granny Mouse's Country House for tea and scones.

There was no proper closet to hang our clothes. There were just four hangers inside a cupboard which houses a fridge and broken safe. I had to squeeze my dresses into tiny gaps. There were also no stands for the suitcases which left us scrabbling on the floor. Two small square ottomans would sort this out. We were very disappointed that no dishes were provided. We are health conscious and didn't want to eat every meal out as we were on a six week trip. Two breakfast bowls, two side plates, two dinner plates, a bowl, dessert spoons, knives and forks, and a sharp knife knife would have made a big difference to how we felt. Instead the cupboard was filled with wine glasses and bottles of wine which we didn't want. There is enough space in the room to provide a table for this. The outside chairs are uncomfortable. Using the hairdryer was also uncomfortable as there is no shelf or table next to the TV plug. A shelf with a mirror above it would be great. The two basins in the bathroom were blocked for our entire stay. There were no bin liners provided. We put our bin outside the door to keep the fruit flies away. This wasn't removed by the daily cleaner, however it was removed the following day when we placed it right in front of the door, so she would have to pick it up. It was boiling hot during our stay and we would have really loved to swim, but there are instructions that the pool is not to be used by guests. I never once saw the owners using it. They indicate a nearby hotel where you can swim, so we went there and asked if it is okay. Yes, you can, but that pool was very dirty. Apart from the attractive decorations, it was a very disappointing experience.
