Gould Swaby Mansion

Breakfast was not offered.

Not having a private bathroom.

The mansion is very beautiful and a historic jewel. The bed was very comfortable. The location is wonderful in downtown Seneca Falls, walkable to restaurants and sights. The attached bathroom in the queen superior suite was very nice, but only had a clawfoot tub with a sprayer. A shared bathroom with a shower was available. We bathed very comfortably in the clawfoot tub.

Common in old homes, it is loud when other guests are moving around or talking in the hallways. Our schedule matched up pretty well with other guests so it worked out O.K. but if your schedule does not match up, it would make going to bed early or sleeping late difficult.

It was a really nice area. The house was historic and huge.

It was very confusing where to enter the premises. We could not find the correct door to our room. The check in directions should have specifically told us how and where to enter. Since it did not, we set up in the wrong room then had to drag everything elsewhere once we figured out where to go. So that was disappointing.

The location was good.

Unfortunately, if you stay on the second floor as we did, all the photos of the beautiful, spacious rooms are not available to you. The "parlor" as they call it for those on the second floor is a big room with a pool table and some sofas. The suite we stayed in was small and cramped. The walls are dirty, and it needs a paint job. If you are able to book a suite on the first floor, I think you will find your stay enjoyable. We looked through the windows, and it was very nice. The door marked "emergency exit" in the suite where we stayed would not open. That is unacceptable.
