Sea Garden House Mandre

Our stay took place from 24 June to 29 June. Overall, the property was in good condition, clean, and met our expectations and needs. However, there were several aspects of our experience that left us disappointed. We made every effort to respect the house rules and complied with them carefully throughout our stay. Despite this, we did not feel welcome and often had the impression that our intentions as guests were being questioned. One of the main concerns was the feeling of being closely monitored through the outdoor security cameras. For example, one morning a visitor joined us for breakfast and stayed for less than four hours. Shortly afterwards, we received a message from the host instructing us to send our visitor away or pay an additional €80 for the brief visit. The message was communicated in an unpleasant manner, and it even included a threat to involve the police if we did not comply. This made us feel very uncomfortable. On another occasion, we forgot the code for the key lockbox. Instead of simply assisting us, we were asked several questions in a way that made us feel as though we were being treated with suspicion, even though forgetting a code is something that can happen to anyone. Additionally, on the second-to-last day of our stay, a stranger attempted to enter the property without our knowledge. We found this very unsettling. Given our previous interactions with the host, it left us with the impression that someone may have been sent to check on us, although we cannot confirm whether this was the case. Regardless, the incident made us feel uncomfortable and further contributed to our feeling of being unwelcome. Finally, upon departure, we were explicitly told that “people like us” were not expected. This remark reinforced our overall feeling that we were not truly welcome during our stay. While the accommodation itself was satisfactory, the way we were treated by the host significantly affected our overall experience.
