Veni Acropolis Museum 2Bd Apt

The location is exceptional — just a few steps from the metro and very close to all the main points of interest, which made getting around super easy. The apartment offers great value for money.

It could be a bit cleaner, and the bathroom could use some minor maintenance

Close to the Acropolis museum, Acropolis metro, Acropolis entrance, Pnix, Panathenaic stadium, and Plaka district. Supermarket round the corner, lots of restaurants/cafes nearby and a sports bar if you need to keep up with the sport. Although the description says 1 bed and one sofa bed, it actually has 2 good-sized bedrooms and a sofa bed. Beds were very comfortable. One bedroom was very quiet. The other bedroom has a nice balcony looking over the street and an attractive church. Sofa was comfortable to sit on. Kitchen was reasonably well equipped and all equipment worked, including washing machine, and there was also a drying rack. Towels and kitchen towel were provided. High ceilings and tiled floor helped keep it cool, and the air conditioning units in the bedrooms were very effective. Shutters in the bedrooms were secure and effective. They did a free clean and bedding change after the first week. There’s a small lift, which is helpful as the apartment is on the 2nd floor. There’s a TV although you’ll need a Prime/Netflix subscription as there’s no live TV. One set of keys was provided, but they provided a second set on request.

The street outside is not busy but has frequent traffic problems and is a tram route so the honking and brake-screeching goes from very early in the morning until well after midnight and the sports bar adds to this. The bedroom with the balcony faces over this street and has single-pane glazing so it doesn’t block out the noise. Also, you can also hear all internal noise from the neighbouring flats and stairwell. Natural light for the lounge/kitchen comes from the kitchen window which looks out onto an unattractive internal lightwell offering a close-up view of the neighbour’s window. The quiet room has the same view. None of the windows have blinds or net curtains so there is no privacy when the shutters are open. The bathroom has a well-worn bath and a hand-held shower with no way to attach the shower head for a standing shower and no shower curtain. The glass-slatted bathroom window opens onto a narrow shaft and one pane was missing, which meant the bath had an unpleasant view of the shaft while the neighbours had an unrestricted view of the bath. The owners did not always reply to questions the same day, which could have created problems if anything needed resolving.
