Unpleasant experience with owner/manager

The house is fantastic. The children's games, books, toys were excellent

Despite having enjoyed the house, we experienced some significant issues with the owner. Check in time was confirmed to us as 3pm but cleaners were still there at 3.50. We received no welcome information with help to find the (somewhat tricky) location of the house, WiFi password, instructions for the house etc. We contacted the owner, twice, at the beginning of the stay, but got no response from her until our final day. There was no handbook in the property itself, which is usually the norm. When we arrived, there was a coffee machine but no coffee pods, no beach towels, no toilet rolls, no duvet covers and duvets themselves left in the cupboard. When we reported this to the owner, she admitted that the beach towels had been missing, but she essentially implied that we were telling lies about the rest of it. She claimed to send a photo of the beds having been made up before our arrival, but unfortunately it was a dodgy link which failed to open. I requested the photographic evidence she claims to have of everything being in place before we arrived, but again, no response from her. Calling your guests liars is inappropriate and unacceptable when they have simply reported the truth to you. We have been left with no choice but to begin escalation procedures with Booking.com. Please note that although the property is listed as beachfront, it is too far away to walk to the beach and back with young children.
