Plougoumelen is located a few kilometres from Auray and Vannes. On the Bono river, easily accessible to the Gulf of Morbihan area and the Quiberon Bay area. Connected to the Gulf by the Crach river, this charming village combines maritime proximity and countryside landscape.

Close to Auray and Vannes, on the edge of the Sal, or Bono river, Plougoumelen is indeed a coastal commune that has its own port.

Plougoumelen's port is in fact a small harbour beach: Le Traon. It can only accommodate vessels with very low draught. It is also a renowned stopover during the Gulf Week, a maritime and land-based event that takes place every two years during Ascension week.

Located on the left bank of the Sal, Le Traon offers a remarkable panorama. From the Kervilio Mill to Pont-Sal Mill, the estuary unfolds before the walker's eye. To the west, one can see the bell tower of Saint-Avoye chapel.

Enjoy your stay by discovering the natural and cultural heritage of this commune by walking along the coastal path between the Kerblei and Pont Sal Wood sites.

Crossing the village and surrounding hamlets allows one to appreciate the old buildings of linen workers, chapels, calvaries, wells, wash houses and mills in preserved landscapes.

Make a detour to the classified Hamlet of Cahire, which presents a set of old longères with thatched roofs typical of traditional rural housing.

The Sal is a 25km long coastal river that feeds the Bono river and flows into the Gulf of Morbihan. This natural valley offers a magnificent fly fishing setting
