Bukit Mertajam New Wave Hotel is strategically located in the heart of Bukit Mertajam, making it very convenient for getting around. The location provides easy access to both Penang Island and the Seberang Perai/Butterworth area, which is definitely one of the hotel’s strongest points.
I stayed in a room with two queen beds. The room was generally okay, but there are a few areas that could be improved. There was very limited space for Muslim guests to perform prayers comfortably, which was quite inconvenient.
The biggest issue for me was the sleeping comfort. The mattress was too firm, and I woke up with body aches after sleeping on it. On the other hand, the pillows were too soft, so the overall sleeping experience was not as comfortable or restful as expected.
Apart from these points, everything else was generally fine. The hotel is a practical choice if location and accessibility are your main priorities.
With some improvements to the mattress, pillow quality and prayer space, the overall guest experience could be significantly better.
Great location and convenient access — but a good night’s sleep should be given more attention.
