Severely misleading listing, missing promised amenities, and wildly overpriced — we left immediately and booked another

Nothing. The property did not resemble the listing in any meaningful way and was not worth the price in the slightest.

This listing was extremely misleading. It advertised a private bathroom and a room with access to a terrace. In reality, there was no private bathroom — it was shared with several other rooms — and there was no terrace access at all. The house itself felt rundown and poorly maintained. The furniture looked old and unclean, and the overall condition was far below what the photos suggested. The listing presents the property as a comfortable homestay, but the reality is a basic shared house in poor condition. What makes this worse is the price. At around $600 per night, this place is wildly overpriced for what it actually is. The quality and setup felt closer to something you’d expect from a very cheap long-term rental, not a premium nightly stay. The price simply does not match the condition or amenities. When I contacted the owner to cancel because the property clearly did not match what was advertised, they refused and insisted the terrace and private bathroom existed, which were straight up lies. Because my partner and I did not feel comfortable staying there, we had to book another hotel the same day and left immediately without staying even one night. This listing gives a very inaccurate impression of the property and charges a premium price for something that does not deliver what it promises. I strongly recommend travelers avoid it.

For the price paid, the facilities and experience did not match the listing

The location and cleanliness were the only positives - the place was clean and it was an easy drive to downtown.

The listing created expectations that did not fully match our experience. The general property description states that “each room includes a private bathroom with free toiletries and a shower,” which was confusing, as our booking was for a room with a shared bathroom. While the specific room description mentioned a shared bathroom, the overall presentation of the property suggested otherwise. The room description also stated that the shared bathroom features a bath, but the bathroom we were instructed to use had only a shower and no bath available. The room facilities mentioned a refrigerator, dining area, and kitchen-related amenities. In practice, there was only a very small cosmetic mini-fridge, no dining table on the terrace or in the room, and no kitchenware apart from an electric kettle and two cups. The presentation of the property gives the impression that more amenities (kitchen, dining facilities, terrace features) are available than what is actually accessible to guests. The room also had very limited sound insulation, and noise from the busy street outside was clearly audible throughout our stay. Communication with the host was minimal and often limited to very brief responses that did not fully address our questions. The listing also displayed a significantly higher “original” price (around $680) with a large discount, which created expectations about the level of comfort and facilities. The accommodation provided was closer to shared-bathroom style lodging than what we anticipated for the price. Overall, the value and facilities did not match the expectations created by the listing.
