The accommodation is gorgeous. It's well equipped and has a beautiful view over the river Gauja. Check in and out was super easy, with great comms. Sitting on the deck listening to the river and birdsong was wonderful. It ought to be a fantastic place to relax. If I was rating just the accommodation and woodland environs I would be going with 9/10.

The problem is access. The property is located in the middle of a military zone. If you approach from the east (Cesis, Sigulda), do not follow sat nav directions. The "road" is impassable and you will get bogged down in sand. We're still unclear whether the road is officially closed, because we didn't see a sign to that effect. Ok, so what about the other approach, via Ilkene and Adazi, which we took on departure? Well, be prepared for potholes. Very deep potholes of the kind that will take out the bottom of your car. You will have to zigzag for several km and on no account should you attempt the road after dark without 4wd. Finally, if you are of a nervy disposition, be aware of the possibility of continuing military firing while you are navigating the road. Basically, a wonderful place but all the chilled relaxation kind of went out the window!
