Plush, clean and comfortable bedding and beds :-)

Lovely stay. Warm and welcoming staff. Carol was most nice and met us at reception... the bar was beautiful and the cooked breakfast was good! Not overly modern rooms, but beautiful crisp clean white bedding and very high quality and wonderfully comfortable beds!

More bottled water in the rooms during the stay because with the dry heating in winter need to drink more water to keep hydrated...

Not to be repeated...

The location

Given the dank cold weather no effort had been made to warm the room before our arrival. There were clumps of hair on the shower walls. No soap on the vanity sink to wash hands our hands with, too much reliance on single use plastic show gel etc. The bedroom was too small and and the window over looked the kitchen roof and extractor vent, which was very noisy when the kitchen fired up for morning/evening service. (You could see the distant Dartmoor hills though). The guttering was broken outside the bedroom window, and needed clearing out elsewhere as water just poured over, so the windows had to be kept shut, the weather was unstable but some fresh Devon air overnight would have been nice.. Goodness knows what was up with the chickens, as the scrambled eggs were too odd to eat, I forced it down but my partner gave up, it had the uniformity of powdered egg. The place felt so end of season and devoid of energy. (Don't get me started on a coffee machine, help your self but we'll not provide any instructions). The whole experience was in stark contrast to the other hotels we had stayed at over the previous 2 weeks, 1 in Crete the other in Luton, where the staff were bright and helpful. In normal circumastance I would have pointed out these deficiencies but I was on my way to a family funeral and just didn't have the 'fight' in me. Maybe in the high seasons things here are different.

Great location for visiting Ashburton. Excellent food options and sizable portions. Perfect after being on the road all day

The decor was a little dated, and the air fresheners in the bathroom were overly strong which made the whole room smell. Clearly a well loved building, just a little dated and in need of upgrades, especially the bathrooms

Only downside of staying in the Summer House was that the early light shone through the windows in the door. Could do with a blind being attached.

Overall good value beautiful setting

Loved the cottage vintage feel to the property. Lovely play area for kids outside. Beds were amazing!

Walls were not sound proof. We could hear people outside, cleaners vacuuming and people next door to us. Smell of alcohol everywhere and check in and check out was in the bar. Not quite comfortable with kids.

Die Lage ist super um das Dartmoor zu erkunden. Das Hotel ist in die Jahre gekommen, hat aber einen ganz speziellen Charme, ich kam mir vor wie bei Dirty Dancing. Es ist sehr sauber, das Essen ist sehr gut, der Garten ist wunderschön.

Das Badezimmer war sehr klein, es fehlten Haken zum Aufhängen. Und man muss aus der Zeit gefallene Hotels mögen.
