OYO Lavender House Hotel

I booked Lavender House for 1 night on the way from Brittany Ferries Plymouth to our home in Yorkshire. What a surprise. From the rear entrance or looks nothing special. We got the nice balcony suite with a very reasonable price. The bed is comfy and the bath room is nice and clean. It would be much better to have a small coffee table.

I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel, it could do with some work to the outside of the building. Once inside it was lean and comfortable with really good staff. Food was good and the gardens super, all in all we had a good stay.

We specifically selected a room with a double bed, BUT when we booked in we were told we had twin beds and could pay to upgrade to a double bed. So not a good start. Worse still there were plenty of empty rooms available! The bathroom was clean but there were a number of issues:- 1. The water would hardly run away from the washbasin, even when just cleaning teeth or washing hands. The cleaner would know of this. 2. The toilet seat was all loose and moved around from side to side, so I tightened it up to make it safe and stop the fixings from breaking. 3. The water continually ran into the toilet cistern and could be heard dripping and trickling into the toilet the whole time. 4. The door stuck quite badly on the floor and needed a bit of a push to open and close it . 5. The slide shower assembly was all loose on the wall so it was impossible to adjust the height or angle for fear of it falling apart. Now to the two sets of entrance doors which did not give a good first impression. The is peeling off on all doors and looks really shabby. Whilst standing at the reception desk the door was always open to the small room behind, which had a whole heap of stuff just seemingly dumped in there and looked very untidy and messy. Not a good impression either. The place needs some regular maintenance and TLC.
