Sunny Home Asakusa

L’appartement était très bien : super propre et bien rangé. Il est petit, mais très fonctionnel. L’hôte était très sympa et très réactif. Les prix sont corrects.

Ce n'est pas à Asakusa ! J'ai été très déçu, j'ai eu l'impression de me faire avoir après avoir réservé, l'appartement est dans le quartier de Ishiwara, Sumida, c'est à 30 minutes à pied du temple de Asakusa, aucun rapport, pourquoi le mettre dans le titre ?

We really enjoyed our stay. The kitchen was very well thought out and stocked with most of the things you need for a comfortable stay. The area was quiet and peaceful, making it a nice place to come back to after a busy day sightseeing. The wardrobes were an excellent size, providing plenty of storage, and the beds were large. The projector screen in the bedroom was a fantastic touch – it was great to relax with Netflix after a long day exploring Tokyo. The location suited us well. It was about a 25-minute walk across the river to the heart of Asakusa, and there was a large supermarket on the corner along with a Lawson convenience store just down the street, making it very easy to pick up groceries and other essentials. There were a few local eateries nearby, although it’s worth noting that many don’t open until around 11:00 am and close again around 2:00 pm before reopening for dinner, so breakfast options were limited. Having the supermarket so close made it easy to prepare breakfast at the apartment instead.

There were a few downsides to our stay. Unfortunately, when we arrived in the evening, the apartment had not been cleaned after the previous guests. To the owner’s credit, they were very responsive and arranged for someone to come and clean it within the hour, which we appreciated. It was just a disappointing start to our stay, especially as there were still notes and apparently treats that had been left for the previous guests, which would have been a lovely welcome if they’d been intended for us. The apartment could also be more comfortable for relaxing after a long day of sightseeing. There wasn’t anywhere to sit other than the bed or the hard wooden dining chairs. We also found the mattresses quite uncomfortable, as the springs could be felt through them. We ended up placing two duvets on top of the mattress to make it more comfortable to sleep on. The bedroom layout meant you had to shuffle down to the foot of the bed to get in and out, which was a little awkward. We also noticed an unpleasant smell coming from the bathroom in the afternoons. Overall, despite these issues, we still enjoyed our stay thanks to the quiet location, good amenities and the owner’s prompt response when the cleaning issue was brought to their attention.
