Welcome to the Spotted Dog Lodge, a luxurious new custom-build retreat nestled in the heart of Rhododendron, Oregon—where timeless mountain charm meets elevated Pacific Northwest design. Surrounded by towering pines and roughly 100 feet of private Zig Zag River frontage, filtered river views from the primary bedroom porch through mature trees, the sound of the river throughout the property, this five-bedroom escape is only nine miles from the slopes of Government Camp, making it the perfect year-round base for adventure and relaxation. Though it does not have direct water access because of a rock cliff, it is still absolutely stunning.
Inside, every inch of the home has been thoughtfully curated with hand-selected décor and furnishings to create the perfect blend of mountain style and exceptional comfort. Natural wood finishes wrap the interior in warmth, while expansive windows frame forest views that shift with the seasons. The main level features an amazing live-edge dining table that seats 12 comfortably and up to 16+ at capacity, two beautifully appointed bedrooms, each with en-suite bathrooms. Upstairs, you’ll find three additional bedrooms, the main one being an exclusive private suite above the garage with its own seating area and kitchenette, ideal for guests seeking a bit more privacy.

The amenity list is as extensive as it is luxurious. Relax in the covered swim spa hot tub after a long day of hiking or skiing. Refresh in the steam shower, a favorite of many guests as mentioned in the reviews. It is incredible after a long day of skiing, hiking or fishing! Also nice for an enjoyable rinse outside is our heated outdoor shower. It does not have doors or privacy, but is great to rinse off after the swim spa or swimming nearby. Tech-savvy travelers will appreciate the hidden motorized TV with Sonos sound bar in the main living area, Sonos audio both inside and out, and two dedicated workspaces with dual 32” monitors. For your comfort and peace of mind, the home is equipped with privacy and blackout blinds in three of the rooms, fire suppression sprinklers, and an ADA-friendly driveway, entrance, and suite, which is extremely rare to find on Mt. Hood.
Entertainment is effortless with TVs in every bedroom and living room, plus a wood-burning stove, fire pit, and propane grill for evenings under the stars. Families will love the kids’ toys, books, dual lofts with cushioned play areas, and extra sleeping space with two pull-out couches and a futon. Due to the location of the home, please note that there may be times where outdoor fires are not permitted due to safety reasons during fire season (typically July- August). Also, cell phone service can be spotty here and some providers do not get service.
Quiet time is 10:00 pm to 8:00 am. This property includes a noise alert monitoring system in order to ensure that neighborhood noise levels are respected.
PET FRIENDLY: **There is a $100 pet fee per pet with a maximum of $300 (3 pets). Although we are pet-friendly please note your pet must not be left unattended at the house without you present, even if in a crate/kennel.**

We had a beautiful stay at this house. It had everything we needed for a large group— plenty of dishes to easily cook and have lovely shared meals, plenty of space to relax and read, the sound of the river and an awesome hike we walked to from the house, plus early morning hot tubs and late night fire gatherings! It was perfection dressed in absolute comfort.

Great house that had more than you need! The hot tub was HUGE and our group loved it after a day of skiing.Unfortunately the TV in the main living room was broken but the host was quick to respond on the issue.

This property was ultimately a disappointment, particularly given how it is marketed and priced. While there were a few thoughtful and appreciated features, the overall experience fell well below expectations for a home positioned as luxury.On the positive side, the home was clearly set up with families in mind. The toddler toilet seat, kids’ dining setup, and the selection of games and toys were well appointed and genuinely helpful. The steam shower in the primary bedroom was a standout feature, and the hot tub was clean, well maintained, and comfortably sized for a larger group.Unfortunately, many core amenities were lacking or nonfunctional. The hot water never truly got hot. The stove functioned poorly—possibly due to the low-quality or incompatible pans provided—making cooking difficult. The kitchen overall was not well equipped: there were no cooking oils or spices, no salt and pepper in the shakers, several basic utensils were missing (including a peeler), and coffee options were noticeably lacking for a house of this caliber.The ice maker in the main house did not work, requiring us to purchase ice. More significantly, the refrigerator in the studio unit did not work at all, even after resetting circuit breakers. The surround sound system was also not working. Slider doors were difficult to open and close, adding to the impression that maintenance has been overlooked.The bedding quality was surprisingly low for a luxury rental—thin, uncomfortable, and not alig
