Shared bathrooms, but they were clean and never heard or saw anyone else using bathrooms when we required them

The back door wasn’t working during our stay.

Make sure you are aware this is a kind of Euro-style hybrid hotel/room rental thing. No staff on site - you get a key code to use at the main and patio doors, and your room door. If you need help, you message the manager. Bathrooms are shared. But that being said, the location was once a hotel and the rooms and bathrooms are fantastic. Luxe finishes throughout - like the sink and shower hardware, beds, light fixtures, woodwork - you can tell they put real money into it. Everything was fully clean. Bathrooms were immaculate. Beds and pillows were great. Location is obviously amazing. Parking on site.

The front door code didn't work - the owner replied quickly with a new code and that one worked. Okay. The Keurig coffee machine in our room was defective - we put in water and a cup, pressed the button, and water just leaked from inside the machine. Made sure the reservoir was seated, etc. We messaged the owner about that and they didn't bother to respond. Not so okay. They have these commercial janitorial grade air fresheners in the hallways and in the guest rooms(!), and when we stayed they were cranked up to 'fumigate'. When you go in the front door, you pass through a literal haze of air freshener chemical. We had to open our window and even had the patio door propped open for a while to try to air the place out. Not sure why they feel the need to be so excessive. If you are sensitive to that sort of thing, be warned. Hopefully they dial it back. It did negatively affect our stay because we didn't want to spend time in the common area where all the fog was.

Location, historic charm. Restaurant next door was great.

Showers were awkward, one didn’t have grab bars, later found the one with grab bars. Seems they all should have equipment to help us old folks be safe. Soap dispenser in room didn’t work. Floor lamp #200 had broken bulb, so lighting was not good for reading.
