Elm Rise Place

Our host was fantastic, warm and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Check in was easy and the chalet was the best stocked place I've stayed in with all the essentials provided. This is such a great bonus and it's clear the hosts care about the people staying with them. The chalet itself had amazing views and was clean and comfortable. It was the perfect base for exploring the local areas. It was peaceful and everyone we walked past was friendly. It was relatively small but we managed fine with two adults and two teenagers! The whole holiday was excellent value for money and I will recommend to everyone.

So the down side was that the pool was closed for the majority of our stay with us only getting to use it on the first day. There were signs up all week saying the pool was closed due to unforeseen circumstances. Part of the reason we picked this place was to use the pool so this did spoil our trip a little. However, it is not the fault of the host and these things happen - hopefully just a one-off problem that gets resolved. When we did use the pool, it was clean and quiet and I was surprised to see a lifeguard manning it - this will be reassuring for families with younger children I imagine. As this issue was beyond the control of our wonderful host, I didn't think it would be fair to lower the score because everything else was amazing.

Comfortable and spacious chalet in a beautiful location. Horses, bullfinches and sea. Glorious.

Not a problem but it would have been handy to have a place to hang wetsuits and wash beach stuff. (That might be somewhere but we haven't noticed) The pool was very cold. Walking from the car park is a minor inconvenience (2 minutes up a small hill) Suggestion: having the sign on the bins of what goes in each of them.

We absolutely loved our stay and will definitely return! Great hosts that went above and beyond!
