Hotel Riu Palace Tikida Taghazout - All Inclusive

The hotel was great as always This is my second time visiting still best for family

Beautiful hotel and spacious rooms The food was okay, it could be better especially at the A La Carte restaurants. The desserts were really nice in the buffet restaurant. One of the outdoor pools is meant to be heated but it was absolutely freezing. We kept getting cockroaches in our room despite constantly taking them out. The staff were all very nice.

After seeing the social media videos of this hotel, I was excited and determined to visit. Firstly I will say the hotel is perfection visually. The grounds/rooms are well maintained. However, I found the staff to be hit and miss. On arrival, I checked-in at reception payment was not taken (I just assumed this was taken from the card provided online or at checkout). It’s a large site and I needed a golf buggy to transfer my suitcases to the room. I was told to add my luggage to a trolly of around 40 other suitcases and was told a porter would place it inside the room at a later time. The suitcases were numbered to each room but were not being closely watched (kept outside). So the idea of leaving high valued luggage and contents unattended wasn't a risk I wanted to take. After getting to my room, I was there for 5mins and got a call from reception that I had not paid my bill and needed to return to reception to pay (this was there mistake not mine). I said I would return shortly. 5min later, I received another call saying I needed to return to pay the bill (noting it would take me around 8mins to walk back). I had been travelling for nearly 14hrs and was in the proses of getting changed. I found this unprofessional and the tone was rude considering it was their mistake. The hotel has lots of stray cats. I counted about 15/20. I’m not an animal person. When I placed my towel on my sunbed, I would return to see that the cats had been lying on it. On one occasion I returned to see the cat lying on my stuff. I asked a member of staff if he could remove it and before doing so, he replied by saying it wasn’t his job. I was tempted to tell him I came on holiday not to cat rescue centre, but decided not to. Basically, if you have a cat allergy or are fearful this is not the hotel for you. Just to be clear, the cats are not cute and fluffy, they look like they have aids. The cats also roam around inside the restaurants and approach you for food while eating, which I found repulsive. Lastly the restaurants closes at 10:30pm. I was feeling unwell and skipped lunch. I woke up and decided to head to the buffet restaurant at 9:55pm (I was a solo traveller so litrally in and out). The staff had removed all the cutlery from the tables and were prepping the tables for breakfast. The man working in my area totally ignored me and looked visibly angry that I wanted to sit down. I asked another person for cutlery who diverted me back to the man managing my area. They started shouting at each-other in Arabic and it nearly got physical. Another member of staff had to pull the man managing my area into the back. I fully appreciate that I entreated close to the closing time but the closing time is there for a reason and if the staff need additional time to set up for the follow day, then that’s a staffing issue and timings need to be adjusted to accommodate. This experience made me feel very uncomfortable and at that point, I decided I would leave a review. As it’s not something I can normally can be bothered to do.
