About this farm stay rental
Size: approx. 80 square meters; living room with open kitchen; bedroom; second separate bedroom/children’s room; bathroom with shower, sink, and toilet; first floor; accessible for people with disabilities; wheelchair-accessible; ideal for 2 to 4 people.
Our “Hof zwischen den Deichen” with three vacation apartments is located a short distance north of the old village of Friederikensiel on the dike along the Frisian North Sea coast, in the immediate vicinity of the “Lower Saxony Wadden Sea National Park,” a “UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site” since 2009.
The vacation apartments have been tastefully—and indeed lovingly—designed by us for you; they are comfortably furnished and excellently equipped with modern amenities. For example, there are dishwashers and microwaves, and you’re welcome to use our washing machine and dryer. Of course, there is plenty of space on and around the farm, along with several terraces and garden areas furnished with outdoor furniture.
A short distance north of our farm lies the outer dike, and beyond it, the sea. A short distance to the south lies the “Schlafdeich”—the old dike that, following land reclamation over the past few centuries, is now situated somewhat inland and no longer serves a direct coastal protection function. That’s why it’s also called the “Schlafdeich”—because it has, so to speak, found its rest.
Between these two dikes lies our farm on the polder—the land reclaimed from the sea by previous generations—which will offer you a truly unique scenic experience during your vacation. That’s why we’ve named the farm “Farm Between the Dikes.”
Friederikensiel is a small, sleepy village in the best sense of the word, with just over 100 residents and a history spanning more than 300 years. Friederikensiel is located about 5 km from the North Sea resort of Carolinensiel-Harlesiel and about 10 km from the North Sea spa town of Horumersiel-Schillig. In Friederikensiel and the surrounding area, there are a number of excellent seafood restaurants and many other tourist attractions. For example, you’ll find plenty of shopping opportunities nearby in the climatic health resort of Hohenkirchen, the heart of the Wangerland region.
The North Sea resort of Carolinensiel-Harlesiel offers a wide range of vacation activities for children and parents. For example, the “Haus des Gastes” and the “Cliner Quelle” spa center, which offer a comprehensive range of swimming, entertainment, and relaxation activities. For instance, parents can read in peace while their children are looked after by experienced staff.
Enjoy the beautiful beach in Harlesiel or go for a swim in the “Cliner Quelle” saltwater indoor pool (wading pool, sauna, tanning beds, beauty and wellness area, and the popular “Moonlight Swim” once a week). Or, in the summer, visit the heated seawater outdoor pool in Harlesiel. For children, teenagers, and really the whole family, there’s the “Happy Family Club” with programs and plenty of ideas. On vacation in Carolinensiel, there’s always something to do—whether it’s sports and games, entertainment, or relaxation.
Enjoy the view of the old ships at Carolinensiel’s museum harbor, the harbor promenade with its cafés, tea rooms, and restaurants, as well as the paddle steamer “Concordia II,” a replica of the old “Concordia I” from 1854.
The best way to reach the beautiful, expansive sandy beach at Schillig is by bike. The North Sea spa town of Horumersiel-Schillig is about four kilometers away and ranks among Germany’s most popular vacation destinations. Here you’ll find a wide range of tourist attractions, including the “Friesland-Therme,” an adventure and leisure water park. This facility is fed by a 160-meter-deep brine well. The facility also features a sauna area with a log cabin sauna, a Finnish sauna, a steam room, and a sauna garden. Guests can access the spacious outdoor area via a sort of canal. The outdoor pool is open year-round!
It’s a bit farther to Hooksiel. From Hooksiel, you can go on a deep-sea fishing trip or explore the historic town center with its listed harbor, or visit the former town hall with its striking onion-domed tower, which is now used as an artists’ house. Hooksiel used to be an important transshipment port for the town of Jever and is now also an attractive tourist destination—for example, featuring a large, fine-sand beach (with a naturist section), a seawater indoor wave pool, and a guest and children’s playhouse.
One of the largest land reclamation projects in Germany ever created approximately 240 hectares of land east of Hooksiel for a large recreational area. Here lies a 60-hectare artificial inland lake known as the “Hooksmeer.” The “Hooksmeer” features a sailing school, pedal boat rentals, a surfing cove with a surf school, marinas, and a fantastic water ski lift. You’ll also find hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails, a trotting track, tennis courts, and much more at the “Hooksmeer.”
