House with garden in a stone farmhouse

On short notice, our plans to stay in Rome did not go through and we found this lovely place in the Umbria countryside. We met Gino in the little town of Gioialla and we followed him to the property. He helped us get settled, answered as best he could in broken English, all of our questions. and made sure we had his number in case we needed anything. There are four, possibly five apartments in this farmhouse complex. Most of the neighbors in the building are local Italians who come for the weekends in the summer to swim in the beautiful pool. Everyone was very friendly, but conversing was difficult as no one spoke English and we did not speak Italian. The nearby town of Castiglione de Lago was the real draw. The lake is beautiful, the setting is quiet, and there are boat rides and other touristy things to do. We also made day trips to Orvieto, Spoleto, Cortona, and Multepulciano. All in all, a very lovely experience. A couple of things to note: 1) you really have to have a car to get around because you are definitely out in the countryside; 2) Bring bug spray because you are definitely out in the countryside. One other important thing to note...the website listed Donatella as the owner and host. However, our communication was always with someone other than Donatella and I'm not sure Donatella is actually a person. No matter. It's a lovely place with two bedrooms, two baths, and a serviceable kitchen.

Our 4 night stay here was the highlight of our 2 week trip in Italy. This place is a Jewel (located just outside of Gioiella). I cannot imagine a more beautiful site from which to sit in the evening and look out over the wheat fields waving in the breeze watching the sunset. Our host was amazing. Very gracious and responsive. The apartment (part of a larger house, but with its own entrances and feels very private) was very comfortable. It has a washer, full kitchen, refrigerator, two bedrooms and two full baths and a living area. But the star for us was the outdoor covered patio complete with couches and table situated by a beautiful flower garden. We sat out there every evening well past sunset. We were there in June and there was a nice breeze every afternoon and evening. There also was a pool, which we could have used, but didn't because we were also very active visiting the nearby Tuscan and Umbrian towns, such as Montepulciano, Pienze, Castiglione del Lago (on Lake Trasimeno) and even further afield (but still only just over an hour away) Assisi, etc. We loved this location and would definitely come back here if we have the good fortune of another Italian vacation.

This is a quirky little apartment in the most beautiful situation. The pool is great. Castiglione del Lago is a lovely town to visit as is Montepulciano. Our only problem was with mosquitoes and midges. If you want peace and quiet this is the place for you.

The room may be suited for a couple with two young children, but not for 4 adults. A small room with bunk bed is not a sleeping room for adults. The alternativ to use the couch in the kitchen/living room is no alternative too.

The most amazing view from this house. It was everything we hoped it would be. The owners were so kind and helpful! We loved all of the little touches that made it feel like home. The flowers around the house were beautiful.

Der Aufenthalt begann mit einem sehr herzlichen und persönlichen Empfang. Donatella und Gino standen auch während des gesamten Aufenthalts für Fragen per WhatsApp zur Verfügung. Das 6 Parteienhaus ist in mitten von Feldern außerhalb eines kleineren Dorfs in der Nähe eines Bauernhofs gelegen. Es gibt gute Versorgungsmöglichkeiten in der nächsten Stadt (Castiglione del Lago), und es ist ein sehr guter Ausgangspunkt für viele schöne umbrische und toskanische Ziele. Die Wohnung ist liebevoll und sehr detailreich in einer italienisch/französische Mischung eingerichtet. Die technische Ausstattung ist sehr gut: Waschmaschine, großer Kühlschrank und großer Gasherd sowie vielfältige Kochutensilien, um nur das Wichtigste zu nennen. Es verfügt über einen schön angelegten kleinen Garten mit Gartenkräutern, in dem schon einmal ein Hase beim Frühstück vorbeischaut. Für uns das Highlight: der wundervolle, weite (Süd-)Westblick über die umbrisch/toskanische Landschaft von der überdachten, voll möblierten Gartenterasse. Wir haben unseren 10-tägigen Aufenthalt zu zweit dort sehr genossen. Auf jeden Fall sehr zu empfehlen.

Das Appartement liegt etwas abseits der Straße auf einer Anhöhe mit einem fantastischen Weitblick. Einrichtung und Ausstattung lassen keine Wünsche offen. Die Räume sind mit sehr viel Liebe zum Detail eingerichtet und bis hin zu Geschirrspüler und Waschmaschine ist wirklich alles vorhanden. Der nächste kleine Supermarkt ist mit dem Auto in 5 min erreichbar. Nach Castiglione fährt man ca. 20 min, hier gibt es dann die großen Supermärkte, Geschäfte und viele sehr gute Restaurants. Donatella und Gino haben uns sehr herzlich empfangen und uns auch noch viele Tips für Besichtigungen und Ausflüge mitgegeben. Wir haben uns rundherum wohlgefühlt und können eine 100%ige Empfehlung aussprechen. An dieser Stelle nochmal ein herzliches Dankeschön an Donatella und Gino. Grazie mille.

Abbiamo passato una ottima settimana di vacanza. La casa é accogliente e bien equipaggiata e la vista sulla valle e sul lago trasimeno é splendida. La casa é relativamente isolata e non ci sono rumori se non quelli de la natura Quando abbiamo soggiornato faceva molto caldo e fortunatamente c'era la piscina per rinfrescarsi. La sola osservazione che si puo' fare rigurda la strada d'accesso che é un po' complicata da percorrere.

Abbiamo trascorso in questa splendida location una settimana magnifica. Tutto quello che si spera di trovare in una casa di vacanza qui c'e'!!

Non potevamo finire il 2015 e iniziare il nuovo anno in modo migliore. La casa nella quale abbiamo alloggiato ci ha colpito per la cura dei particolari, per la pulizia, completezza degli accessori e per il gusto con cui è stata arredata. Abbiamo trascorso momenti di vero relax davanti al rustico camino, incorniciato da luci natalizie, accanto al quale è stato allestito un piccolo alberello di Natale bene addobbato. Il piccolo ha molto apprezzato il letto a castello dall'alto del quale amava guardare i cartoni in tv dotata di antenna satellitare. In un ambiente da favola abbiamo festeggiato cenando tutti insieme e aspettando la mezzanotte. Pensiamo proprio di ritornarci in estate!

We spent a lovely time in this beautiful place of Donatella and Gino last summer! We were two adults and two children (aged 9 and 6). We really enjoyed the beautiful scenery and the lovely apartment. It is just as stunning as in the pictures! Our hosts, Donatella and Gino, were very friendly. We were even given a generous welcoming package including local products <3 The apartment lacked for nothing, it was fully equipped and beautifully furnished. Then ONLY reason we did not give 5 stars is the "quiet time" from 1 to 4 pm, which was little difficult with the children this age, as their favourite hobby during the holiday was swimming. And swimming and playing in the pool is not easy without making some noise : ) Thank you Donatella and Gino! Hope to see you again!

Propriétaires charmants et d'une extrême gentillesse. La maison était d'une propreté irréprochable , douillette et très bien décorée. Rien ne manquait. On s'y est senti comme chez nous. Un gros panier garni nous a été offert, délicate attention.Piscine très agréable surtout avec la chaleur du mois d'août . Nous avons passé un séjour magnifique. Je conseillerai cette location à tous ceux qui veulent visiter cette belle région de l'Italie. Août 2015 Martine et Stéphane

We keep very good memories to our holiday in Castiglione del Lago last Summer. It is clear that the friendly owners of the house have thought about all details for a perfect stay, and that is really appreciated! Beautiful view on the hills, cosy house with a nice pool and garden. One of the best we have ever booked so I can only recommend this place!

La nostra vacanza è stata breve, quattro giorni, (dal 5 all'8 luglio 2014) però è stata molto bella. Appena arrivati siamo stati piacevolmente colpiti dalla casa di Donatella e Gino: nuova, pulita, arredata con gusto, completa di tutti gli elettrodomestici (lavatrice, microonde, aspirapolvere) detersivi per i panni, i piatti e per pulire e la cucina super attrezzata. La veranda offre una vista bellissima sulle colline circostanti: mentre mangi puoi goderti l'assoluta tranquillità, il tavolo però è un po piccolo per quattro persone se oltre alla colazione ci si vuole pranzare o cenare. E che dire della piscina: i miei bimbi erano sempre in acqua. E se oltre a rilassarsi si vuole anche visitare c'è solo da scegliere, infatti ci si trova proprio al confine tra Umbria e Toscana due regioni piene di posti bellissimi. Lo consigliamo e noi ci ritorneremo. Patrizia.

Nous avons passé de merveilleuses vacances dans cet écrin de verdure. La piscine entourré d Olivier au top, la maison est très agréable et tout est là pour notre plus gd confort. Nous espérons revenir !

Vacanza Indimenticabile quella trascorsa in questa casetta. Sia per il contesto naturale in cui è collocata, sia per come è arredata e per i comforts di cui dispone. In pratica c’è davvero tutto! Quando si entra si resta stupiti per come è accogliente e per come è curata. Bei mobili e bei complementi di arredo. Bellissime le lenzuola antiche ricamate del letto matrimoniale sul quale è stato inserito un bel baldacchino. Molto comodi i divani esterni dove in pratica abbiamo trascorso molto tempo a leggere e ad ammirare il paesaggio e il giardino antistante. Un cosa mi ha sorpreso. Normalmente nelle foto pubblicate le case e gli esterni risultano sempre più belli rispetto alla realtà. Bene! E’ la prima volta che mi è capitato di riscontrare una realtà ancora più bella di quella rappresentata dalle immagini. Come fare a non ritornarci!

Su consiglio di nostri amici abbiamo soggiornato in questo grazioso appartamento che colpisce anzitutto per il buon gusto con cui è stato arredato e che denota tutta la fantasia e la passione dei proprietari per la casa. Nel soggiorno-cucina colpiscono la piccola finestra situata nel muro di fronte all’ingresso, le casseruole di rame appese alle travi colme di piante traboccanti, la cappa in mattoni sulla quale pendono antiche stadere trasformate in fioriere, l’antica piattaia su cui sono esposte vecchie pentole di rame antico. Una vera chicca è la camera da letto nella quale spicca il letto sormontato da un ciel de lit con delicati drappi, l’antico e capiente armadio con specchio incorporato. Anche la cameretta è ben arredata e completa di tutto. Bella la soluzione dell’armadio a muro ottenuto utilizzando un’antica porta. La casa non è grandissima ma per due persone risulta molto grande. Possiede due bagni, è molto comoda, pulitissima e completa di tutto a partire dagli elettrodomestici: lavatrice, lavastoviglie, forno elettrico, microonde, piano cottura a 5 fuochi, grande frigo con congelatore. Tv nelle camere e nel soggiorno, anche sat, wifi. Gli esterni non sono da meno. Il giardino sebbene non grandissimo è curatissimo e anch’esso dotato di talune soluzioni originali che lo rendono particolarissimo come il carrettino stracolmo di fiori e l’angolo delle piante aromatiche delimitato da un caratteristico steccato. Bellissima la veduta sulle colline e sul lago standosene comodamente sdraiati sul divano esterno o seduti al tavolo entrambi disposti sotto al porticato dove le lanterne antiche che abbiamo acceso di sera rendono suggestivo l’ambiente circostante. La strada di accesso al casale,all’inizio, risulta un po’ lunga ma il giorno dopo già non ce ne siamo accorti. Dopotutto il paradiso non è dietro l’angolo! Che dire dei proprietari! Cordiali e gentili, anche nel farci omaggio di una bottiglia di vino prodotto con uva del vigneto dei proprietari. Insomma, finalmente una soluzione di pregio che ci ripaga di precedenti esperienze deludenti riscontrate in altre soluzioni abitative, anche più grandi, sicuramente non all’altezza quanto a gusto e funzionalità.

Nous avons passé un agréable séjour dans ce gite idéalement situé entre Ombrie et Toscane. Le point fort du gite est incontestablement sa vue, tous simplement a coupé le souffle, le gite était aussi propre que fonctionnelle, décoré avec gout et équipé d'un electro ménager dernier cri. Les propriétaires sont du reste adorables, avec des petites attentions à notre arrivée comme un bouquet de fleur sur la table ou quelques courses faites, ils auront par ailleurs pris régulièrement de nos nouvelles pour s'assurer du bon déroulement de notre séjour. Pour les inconvénients rencontrés, le wifi très lent, l'isolation du gite qui nous a assuré des réveils matinaux lors du court séjour des locataires du gite adjacent, mais avant tous, la route d'accès au gite aura incontestablement était le point noir de ce séjour, chemin agricole complément défoncé et très long, deux jours de pluie l'auront transformé en ruisseau, les roues s’enlisant dans la boue, le bas caisse raclant le chemin, les cailloux sautant dans la carrosserie, les roues patinant dans le gravier de la monté après avoir callé, j'aurais aimé en être averti avant d'arriver avec mon véhicule personnel

E' stato un week end davvero fantastico! Il casale è immerso in un tripudio di campi coltivati e prati. La struttura del casale è molto rustica ed accogliente. Abbiamo trascorso delle piacevoli serate riscaldati dal calore del camino in muratura che si trova nella casa. L'arredamento è curato in ogni dettaglio. Inoltre il casale è situato in un posto strategico, che permette di raggiungere in poco tempo alcune delle più belle città d'Italia come Arezzo, Cortona, Siena, Perugia. Sicuramente una vacanza da rifare!

Vacanza in un'atmosfera davvero unica, con tanto spazio per ritrovare la pace, quella trascorsa in questa dimora sapientemente curata nei piccoli dettagli dove nulla è lasciato al caso. C'è di tutto in casa. Il proprietario è stato davvero cortese nel farci trovare all'arrivo un cesto con taluni beni di prima necessità. Idea molto apprezzata. Gli interni sono molto accoglienti ed arredati con gusto. Dal porticato in cui è bello rilassarsi sui divani e dall'antistante giardino privato, ricco di fiori, si gode di un grandioso panorama sulle colline toscane e sul vicino lago.Spettacolari i tramonti. Comodamente si raggiunge la bella piscina, attrezzata di ombrellone e 2 lettini per il sole, dalla quale si può ammirare lo stesso scenario naturale. Siamo stati molto bene e lo consigliamo vivamente.

Eine fantastische Unterkunft die wir sehr empfehlen koennen. Wunderschoener Ausblick. Sehr herzliche Vermieter. Immer wieder gern in diese Ferienwohnung.
