Eger (prounounced A gar) is a beautiful and historic city, so fun to visit especially during one of the three wine festivals held every year. This apartment is ideally close to the central square, and an easy walk to the very castle where in 1552 the line of Christendom was heroically held against a vast army of the Ottoman Empire. And another lovely walk leads to the Thermal spa with its 8 or so pools. An older Turkish bath stands nearby. We enjoyed a lovely two night getaway. Eger is easiy reached by train or bus in under two hours from Budapest. Did I mention thatseniors of all nationalities use public trains and buses for free within Hungary?
