Chatur Costa Caleta

This is an excellent 3* budget option. The rooms were basic but clean, with a comfy bed and sofa bed. Sufficient storage. A few chips here and there but nothing that impeded the functionality of the room. It was disappointing that the lifts that serve this side of the hotel were not working during our stay and you had to walk around from the reception side, with steps up and down. The main pool area was good and we were always able to find a sunbed. The sunbeds themselves weren't very comfortable as they could not be adjusted. The pools were heated on most days of our stay, the temperatures varied daily, but the smaller pool was the warmer. The roof top area was good for sunbathing but as the pool and jacuzzi were closed I did not use the area. The entertainers provided a number of daytime activities if you wanted to get involved, pool, darts, jenga, aquagym and skittles. The standard of evening entertainment varied, we saw a singing duo and a solo singer over the course of the week, who were very good. There was also bingo, quizzes, kareoke and a circus show on the other evenings. The food was a mixed bag. Breakfast, only offered british sausages on one day of the 5 we went for breakfast, the ham/bacon was not comparable to English bacon but there was aways fresh cooked fried eggs, cerial, fruit, yoghurt and fresh baked bread. The coffee was good but you needed 2 tea bags to make a proper brew. Lunch and dinner - there was always fresh cooked meat and fish. I had steak on a number of days. There were pasta options and varied vegetable and potato options daily. I always found something to eat and the salad and soup options were good. Dessert was not really to my taste. The cakes were very sweet and they used cinnamon on a lot of dishes. There was always mousse, jellies and ice cream if I had wanted them. Reception dealt with all enquiries professionally, but I would try to avoid the 3pm booking in time if you can as it gets busy. Only one maintenance issue whilst we were there, as the toilet started to run one day and could not be flushed, this was dealt with immediately upon notification. Overall I would recommend the hotel and would consider staying here again if travelling to Caleta de Fuste, the beach and shops are all nearby and only a short walk to the centre.
