Very friendly and responsive host. The house is modern, nicely decorated, and spread over two floors. Downstairs there is a bedroom with a double bed, an open-plan living room and kitchen, and a modern bathroom with a shower. Upstairs there is a room with a double bed and, around the corner, a sleeping area with two twin beds, plus a second modern bathroom with a shower/bathtub combo. All beds have nice firm mattresses. The kitchen is fully equipped (oven, stove, microwave, Lavazza capsule coffee machine, electric kettle, fridge and freezer, plenty of cutlery and glasses, etc.). The spacious living room has a big modern smart TV with apps and a comfy couch to sink into, and there’s plenty of space outside as well. The location is great. The beach is an 8-minute walk away: a nice little beach with a wonderful view of Isola Gallinara and a lovely beach bar with good food, good drinks, and friendly staff. A grocery store is 5 minutes away on foot, an ice cream parlor and bakeries are 3 minutes away, and there are many quaint coffee shops and other stores nearby. The old town of Albenga is very charming (my wife loved it), with lots of cool bars, restaurants, and shops. The train station is a 20- to 30-minute walk away, with connections to Alassio (10 minutes), Ventimiglia (1 hour), and Genoa (1.5 hours).

All very minor points: The upstairs bathroom has a shower/bathtub combo under the sloped roof and no shower curtain, so showering standing up is a bit tricky (and sitting down is a bit cramped if you’re tall like me). There are about 10 steps up to the upper floor (with handrails), which may not suit guests who have difficulty with stairs. Upstairs, the double bed is in its own room but without a door, and the two twin beds are just around the corner, also without a door, so there’s a little less privacy for the couple in the double bed (and you’ll hear any snoring). Since the house is right in the middle of a residential neighborhood, there is some traffic and noise at night. Finally, running the oven and stove at full power at the same time tripped the breaker a few times.
