The Royal Hotel Morpeth

Great little pub. Basic accomodation however met all my expectations. Food was great also.

Pillows pretty bad. Room needed a chair. I was needing to work on a project on laptop.

My room was very basic, just a bed & no other furniture, but it was clean. Bathrooms clean & tidy. There's also a great fully equipped communal kitchen. Even though I stayed on a Saturday night, there was very little noise from the bar area, just a few popular songs playing quietly which I enjoyed, and it all stopped well before 10pm.

It was a very cold July night and there was no heating in the room. I asked the staff if they had heaters and they just looked at me blankly before telling me they didn't, or trying to resolve the issue. Even extra bedding would have helped. The addition of a bedside table, lamp, chair and a mirror in the room would be useful for make up and blow drying hair, so as to free up the bathroom for other guests.

Bed was comfortable and I would say everything was adequate.

Rooms (and the entire upstairs) were a little run down , I could hear the noisy group of women that staggered in screeching drunk at 3:30am clear as a bell through the wall and the squeaking of the hallway floor. I guess that’s not really the Royal Hotel’s fault, but it did put a dampener on what would have been otherwise a decent night’s sleep. Bathroom was a little run down but it seemed clean.
