Sleepy Owl Chalet

We chose this property primarily because I'm in a band and we had a show in nearby Three Oaks, MI on the Saturday night of Memorial Day weekend. We didn't want a hotel either. Attached to an antique shop that is on the bustling Red Arrow Highway, we enjoyed the layout and decor of the property, with the highlight being the enclosed porch on the second level of the house facing more or less a small wooded and leafy subdivision. That porch especially was nice to relax with my wife after our show around midnight and then again with coffee and breakfast next morning. Our kids enjoyed it overall too.

I'm not sure we'd stay there again mostly because it didn't meet the requirements we really needed: specifically we're at a point with a 17-year-old daughter and 13-year-old son that we need 3 bedrooms and 3 beds, this had 2 bedrooms and 2 beds (my son was sporty enough to sleep on a couch). So, that's something to consider for folks in a similar situation to us. The bedroom my wife and I shared was a double bed, so it was a bit of a shock coming from the king we share at home. Plus, the mattress was too soft and had a concave bend to it that gave me a charlie horse during the night. Also, there is just one bathroom/bath in the property. That's somewhat hard with 4 people. Also, the toilet flushes very slowly (not great water pressure); not sure if that's fixable but something to note. Overall, I'd say it was a good, not great, place. I'm also not sure if was worth paying > $300 for. Still, for one night, it did the job for us, and again, the upstairs porch was pretty wonderful to relax in.
