Really pleasant, cozy duplex with plenty of room

This is my favorite type of rental - the nicely impersonal kind. Everything felt clean and well kept. The decor shows the owner's personality, but it's not in your face. Everything is nice, but it's clearly from a catalog, not something with sentimental value. It feels like a nice space that has been set up for strangers, not a home you're intruding on or a dumpy weekend house where second quality stuff from home ends up. The bunk beds downstairs were also a lot of fun for our kids. Our 8 year old could dit up comfortably on the top bunk, but it was a close thing, so be aware. They loved having their own TV and couch right outside of their bedroom. Location is also great - it's just up from a nice grocery store, and close to at least two good parks, one of which is walkable. Everything Spokane Valley has to offer is a short drive away, as is downtown and Cour d'Alene.

The neighbors were smoking weed outside one night, but that's not the owner's fault, or my business. I didn't realize it was a duplex until the day before we checked in, but that might have been something I was inattentive to. The master bedroom faces east and only has blinds on the windows, so we mostly got up when the sun was fully up (around 5:30 am in July). These are all little quibbles that didn't put a damper on our stay. Adding blackout curtains to the master bedroom is the only suggestion I would make, and honestly, for us it was a nice way to wake up and not that much earlier than our alarms anyway.
